    Daily Drivers

Goes to work everyday. 30mi round trip. Sees less miles on the weekend. I bought the car to drive not sit in a garage looking cute. I understand what Rich is saying about hating to put miles on it. Even worse is the highway driving and all the little nicks and scartches. I got over that part...

    Which Gears Guys?

This is the link from when i did my 92auto. 2.59 to 3.54 upgrade. you can go to 3.75 if you want. a little harder on mileage on the highway. a little better for drag racing. with 3.54 i can autox the car on slow speed courses and just leave the shifter in 2. you'll be right up in the power band...

    summer cooling

Changed to 160stat and chip that turns on fans at 180. With no AC cruising the highway it's about 175. In town gets to 185. With AC on it will get up to 200 in town and about 185 highway. I'm running the Orange stuff. Just flushed the system a couple of weeks ago when I did the stat/chip...

    Gear Break in?

When I got the 2.59s swapped for 3.54s they pretty much told me to go easy for the first few hundred, then after about 500 or so you should drain the gear oil and replace it. At that time check for any larger metal deposits. There shouldn't be any. One article I read and followed had a first...

Bose Speaker Locations in '90 Coupe

You'll know if the amps are going. The output is low. First sign is clicking and popping. That is the capacitors going. If you continue to run it you'll probably blow the power amp(s). You'll know which one when you pull the amp out. It'll be the one that is molten crap on the motherboard and...

Biggest complaint about my C4 Vette

Ken, The Accumat is one of the products Redbob mentioned when I was looking at tuning out the resonance in the cabin. I checked into the AMT250. Good stuff. But very expensive. Like $35/sheet. And you'll need quite a few sheets to fill up the back of that hatchback on the coupe. I figured I...

Fans Come On Right After Car Is Started....Why?

Ruby, Before you just go replacing the relays try the simple tests the guys have mentioned. If you hear the noise in the morning at startup after the car sits all night and is cold, then there is a good chance you're hearing Air Pump doing its thing. It is noisey. When I first got my92 I thought...

Need opinions on brake pads to use

I definetely agree with Eagle. Don't skimp on brake pads to save a buck. Getting a Vette to go fast isn't that hard. You'd better make darn sure you can stop that beast in a hurry and that your brakes don't fade out on you... I looked at the Raybestos Brute Stop/Force? pads. I chose the PFC/PFZ...

Need opinions on brake pads to use

Vettelt193. I have the pads from Autozone too. They're the Performance Friction pads. I believe PFZ is the type. As you said carbon metallic. Work better than the factory pads. Some dusting but not terrible. They're not cheap either. I think it was around $130 for front+back pads. Graham

    Magnaflow Mufflers are installed

Hey Bob, I haven't forgotten about or dropped this idea. I'm still doing my homework on the sites you posted and some others I'm finding. Spending the money to do it is on hold but the research is in progress. So I have another question. I need some good reading material on the resonance and...

    Keyless Entry

Johnny, I had a keyless entry installed in my92. My friend installs stereos, keyless entry etc for a living. He said the car was no big deal at all. It took him an hour to do it. There is a small catch to the setup he used. He didn't want to deal with the VATS system. He wired the power door...

1.6 Roller Rockers...Fit Under Stock Valve Covers?

Bob, That's interesting. I didn't know you could buy a split kit of 1.6 intake, 1.5 exhaust. I'd be curious what company you are referring to. When I looked at Crane and a few others I saw the complete 1.6RR or 1.5RRkit. The Gold Race "Self-Aligning" Extruded Narrow. But no split kit. It was...

    Hot Chips

Didn't realize that Ed doesn't touch the 84. Here is another one for you that has some good feedback. And they do make one for an 84. www.jetchip.com Ed Wright (fastchip) is the most popular for the L98/LT#/LS# cars. Not just Vettes. Go check some other Vette sites and the Camaro/Firebird...

1.6 Roller Rockers...Fit Under Stock Valve Covers?

Use self-aligning rockers. Replace the springs and retainers also. You will have to grind your drip tabs down because the 1.6 will hit them. If you just went to 1.5 RR then they are supposed to clear and you can retain all your original hardware. I haven't done it yet but it's on my list. If you...

    Hot Chips

Purely my opinion... I put a Hypertech in my84 when I had it along with the 160 stat. Quite frankly I couldn't tell any difference. Now in my92 I put an Ed Wright chip (Fastchip) w/160 stat. This is a Stage II chip. What I noticed with the Fastchip is the engine is smoother. My gas mileage is...

Just put borlas on my 95 coupe!

Re: Re: Just put borlas on my 95 coupe! Yeah go ahead and rub it in :nono :L Once I'm done redoing my exhaust system I'll get the mufflers and look that I want and it'll have a 2 position knob on it. Wife mode and Husband mode :cu Graham (Just call me Mr. Quiet Ride for now...)

    test&tune:Tpis airfoil,52mm TB, adj. fuel reg.,flowmaster mufflers

sothpaw, yeah i was dissapointed with those numbers on the rollers. but then thinking a little more. you're talking 11rwhp. so that equates to maybe 15hp at the flywheel. i was hoping that mod was good for 20hp. it was on my list for my LT1. oh well. the idea of the extra lift and smoother valve...

    test&tune:Tpis airfoil,52mm TB, adj. fuel reg.,flowmaster mufflers

A couple of observations and comments. I'm no dyno guru or drag racer but... You did some numbers in 98 on base stock. Then the mods with 1.6RR, K&N, chip, stat. But in 99. So the car is a year older? Things change. I would think you want the dyno tests almost back to back (before/after) to see...

    Gears

Bob, If the 3.07 meant you also got the D44 thrown in, for $50, that definetely would be one of the best options that I know of. Today for $50 you get the extra paper floor mats :( :L ub2, G44 means 3.07 and G92 means performance axle, which is 3.07. confusing no? i have option letters on mine...
