Open loop happens right when you start the car. The engine is cold obviously and not as effecient as when it is warmed up. So the computer makes some air/fuel mixture adjustments to make driveability better. Once the car is warmed up it goes into Closed loop and the computer makes different...
Eagle,
Did you reinstall the factory insulation on top of the duct insulation after or just put the carpet on top? Under my carpet is some pretty thick material in the hatchback. But it looks cheap.
John,
If you're trying to solve resonance problems you'll need more than duct insulation and...
No tstat and the coolant flows too fast with too little restriction. Some of the thermal reduction will be lost. You should run it with a tstat in it. Like vader said at 150 you go into closed loop. You need to be in closed loop for the engine to run properly. Open loop is only supposed to be...
For the roof panel you can just use a T-40 torx screwdriver instead of the little ratchet that comes with with the car.
The panel needs to be on tight. But it doesn't need to be cranked down with a ratchet. I've used the screwdriver many times. Get the car on level ground. Tighten it up. Drive...
Ken,
What is the hard part about installing the Camber Brace? I had Dave send me the install instructions so I could see how much of a pain. Near as I can tell the biggest hassle appears to be shoe-horning that puppy into the engine bay. Anything else?
Graham
The wheels are different also. The fronts with the smaller tires are 8.5" wide and the rear with the bigger tires are 9.5" wide on a stock 94 base suspension. ie, no Z51 or Z07.

Rich,
How difficult to remove the old ones and install the new ones on the sway bars. I'm thinking of getting the kit from Energy Suspension that has the bushings and end links packaged up. They even have ones now with grease fittings on the mounts with channels in them so greasing them up is...
Just an update. I installed the Bilstein Sport shocks (Z51). I like the ride. The car is firm but not bone jarring. Even though the original ones weren't leaking or anything they were soft. The car feels a little tighter. So we'll see what happens this weekend. I have an autox on Sunday.
Btw...
Warren,
Yeah you need good tires for sure. My SZ50s are now down to racing depth :L They are still good enough for a couple more autox events but would not be so great for drag racing. When they were new though they were very sticky and didn't break loose very easily. You'll have to practice...
You have to learn how to drive the car again and you need to have more control. With the 2.59s I could just mash the pedal and go. I'm happy with the 3.54s and can run it without ASR with little wheel spin off the line. It pulls significantly harder. It's great for Solo II autox. I can run 1st...
I have the new Bilstein Sport shocks coming in tomorrow and will put them on Saturday.
Anything I should know before I start to avoid painful surprises? I've done the front ones before and that is easy. What about the back. Looks kinda tight in there on top of the shock.

I'll be calling you Dave. As soon as my parts check (income tax return) comes in ;)
I've heard nothing but good things about what you are doing and the camber brace in particular.

I'm using the Mobil 1 75W-90 synthetic in the diff with no problems. I have the additive in it. I've also used Red Line synthetic with no additives and that works fine too. The Red Line says the additive is built in. Mobil 1 doesn't. The synthetic is supposed to keep the diff a little cooler.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I'm trying to acheive 2 things here. I guess I should have stated that first...
The car has over 90K now. So part of this is to replace worn parts. The other part is to improve handling for autocross. This is Solo II low speed.
So new shocks were near the top of my...
I've got a few questions regarding mixing suspension parts...
I have the base "soft ride" suspension on my92. The car has 90K on it and it is all original suspension parts.
1st - I'm looking at the Bilstein Sport shocks. I think the car comes with ones listed as HD. The Sport are supposed to be...
Has anyone run the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 on low speed autocross runs (Solo II)? Tire spin from a stand still? Lateral acceleration? Do they give good feeback when they are going to break loose?
I'm curious how they do when pushed around ;)

Ok I'll disagree and take the flak for it :(
Corvettes are investments if you bought it for that reason. That is not the only reason to own one. If you want to sit it on a pedestal, or only drive it nice weekends, or control the mileage to 1,000 miles or so a year then it would be a good...
Try using Edmunds, as in www.edmunds.com. Price the car out. I would say about $15-17K if you're lucky and the car is in good shape. Unless that is an immaculate Grand Sport I can't see anyone who knows what they are looking for coughing up $20K+. Not with 62K miles. The LT4 doesn't jack the...
That other member would be me Chris. And yes I sent you pics. The post here is a reduced quality to fit on the forum.

I didn't get as involved as Jeff and cut my existing shroud with a dremel and then installed and sealed...
