My vote is driveshaft universals and/or spindle bearings - - neither of which should be ignored as failure can be catastrophic.
One way to check: jack the rear up (block front wheels first). Grasp wheel top and bottom-- rock back and forth-- play should be minimal.

The following appeared in today's Arizona Republic (Phoenix) daily newspaper under the Corvettes" section:
"1975 Convertible-- 4spd, new paint & interior. Runs great! Needs minor work. $10,500. 623-764-2518"
A quick search shows that the phone number is Nextel cell-- and 623 exchange...
Precisely my point! I remember a group of `74's that were delivered to the dealers in primer-only - - - and one at McDorman Chev in Columbus, OH was painted black because at the time, Corvette wasn't offering black (or perhaps was having QC probs)
I don't recall reading about any experimental...
Check out this interesting `89 roadster on E-Bay - - the photos in the posting reportedly document the car's build process with a new/trial DuPont paint process-- 20 layers of paint, sanding and clearcoat...
I've had great success using a 50/50 mix of simple green on a warm engine - - -hit the bad spots with concentrate and a small brush - - then rinse with a garden hose... repeat a couple times on the tough spots.
I use tire foam spray on the painted, polished and plastic parts (stay away from the...

I had the same experience and have opted for Krylon's satin finish semi-gloss. It may not pass muster with the NCRS gang, but it looks pretty good to my eye.

Nice driver . . but the two issues of a color change and a non-original motor drag the value down significantly. Assuming there's no salt-air rust in the crossmembers or birdcage, $9-$11k seems like a more realistic assessment in my view. Paying much more than that with the idea of returning it...
They come apart from the back side - -underneath the car. There are two speednuts that hold the housing halves together. Our 74's are an oddball year - -I don't think any of the other C-3's use the same design.

Good call - - wow- I had no idea - - it looks perfect ! We're in a similar position with our `74 - - newer, better hp engine, different steeringwheel & seats, wheels, etc. Now all I gotta do is finish installing the new carpet and sell it !
What a beautiful Vette and incredible countryside!
With all due respect, I wouldn't do a darn thing to that car . . . but if you must, I'd suggest buying new, shorter springs and saving the factory originals.
Good call Richard-
Hard to imagine that such things manage to work loose all by themselves, but I am convinced these cars have minds of their own.
From one loose nut to another - -thanks !
I was able to reach up and carefully peel the paper off the top of the tank on our 74 - - unfortunately, nothing was readable - - very faint marks on brittle paper where the letters once were. I guess it depends on the environment - - but be prepared for the fact that there might not be anything...
Didn't Janet Gutherie in the Texaco car owned by Roland Volstadt pre-date Lyn St. James at the Indianapolis 500 ? I think Lyn also had some success on the road courses. Both did a great deal for women in racing including Team Rahal's young protege Danica Patrick.

I haven't bought it, but was anticipating work to be done. Good luck with your project.

I put in a set of late C-3 seats - - out of an '82. I like the way they look, but am less pleased with the way they feel for the driver. They seem to "sit" higher in the car which makes it snug with the tops on if you're much over 6 ft. When I'm finished with the new carpet, I may put the...
We've had 7 Vettes and it seems to me that there's always a gap between the left and right tops where they meet over the stainless t-bar. In looking at my 74 today, the space is consistent at about 1/4" in my estimate.
I think the fitment test is whether or not it leaks - - air or water. If...
Greetings from Arizona:
Assuming that your BB and my SB is the same, my battery compartment has a lip at the forward part of the compartment for the forward facing portion of the battery, and a corresponding 4" long curved piece to latch over the rear lip of the battery. It's secured through the...

I'm in the middle of the same project on our `74 coupe- - cleaned/scraped everything, POR first, then Reflectix-- and now the carpet with the gray padding on the underside. I honestly can't recall where I got the "molded" carpet - - it was one of the notable suppliers-- but I'm fighting...
Norval:
You are a MASTER ! It's been really fun to watch your project develop and you've done many, many things that many of us would not have the talent or resolve to accomplish.
Keep up the great work and thanks for posting so the rest of us can enjoy it vicariously.
