Now I'm not at all sure it is a u joint. Seems to be a lot (1/8") of play at the back of the tranny. Its not leaking, yet. Maybe be a bearing?
I'm about to go into my "library" and research it...I see you have to take the exhaust system off to get to it. I'll get it diagnosed by a...
Well said! And would you have a source for these bushings since Chevrolet seems to have discontoued making parts for the C-4? Thanks!
The project comtinues...:W
I'm lubricating the chassis while its up on blocks. I know about all the grease fittings. My Hayne's manual mentions spaying silicone lubricant on the weatherstripping to keep it soft and plyable. Could/should I lubricate bushings under the car the same way? Is there another way of treating...
Very helpful refresher. I've done u joints before. I have a vice. How do you know if thery're bad? The play in them is very, very little, almost insignificant, but somethings going on back there. I'm going to check the main two u joints tomorrow.

So far I've done everything myself and its been a relativly cheap fix. I should have it on the road next weekend. After putting it on jackstsands and shaking stuff back there, I'm not sure it is the u joint, could be a bearing or the yoke? Vibrates and makes a rumbling noise at a...

Excellant directions. The last ones sent didn't mention removing tie rod, knuckle and leaf spring. Is this because its reccomended when you replace both u joints versus the one outside one I originally inquied about? Just wondered. If I'm taking it all apart, I'll replace both on that side...
Thanks again for all the warm wishes. Sounds like a bunch of great people here. Does anyone know of a Covette club in the Nothern Virginia - West Virginia panhadle area?
I know I should use search. But I did and nothing came up so I'm puttin' it out there.
Is replacing one of the outside ujoints difficult. The procedure is not in my Haynes so I was hoping some one could talk me through it or direct me to the proper link/thread. Thanks! I'm still trying to...
I've been driving around with tinted windows and no front plate f(both illegal in Virginia) or years in Vettes, Zs, and other sports cars and never, ever been bothered. My teenage son has received 3 tickets (that I know of) for those infractions in his Honda. Profiling...

I find it hard to believe that so many did not know that Fram Filters are a P.O.S.
This has been common knowledge for years.
Some of you may find this interesting. http://theoildrop.server101.com/foru...=all&vc=1&nt=7
Interesting thread indeed although it didn't address...
Damn, lets make up our miinds. I just got back from AutoZone where I returned all my Frams (2) and got AC Delcos instead. Of course they all thouight I was nuts. I suppose I am sorta....
JEFNLSA - Ok now that I've been under the car, are you talking about the two long bolts just inside the rear wheels? There seems to be a lot of adjustment in the stock bolts.. I would loose to lower? Thanks!
