    Radio Relay

Haven't tried to replace the relay yet, just have to remember to shut off the radio. From what I read it's a bit#h to do. If you haven't bought a relay yet, go to the dealer. Several places out there want 20 - 30 $ for one and the dealer charged me $12 for an OEM part. Don't figure.

    Radio Relay

Via trial and error I found if I leave my stock Bose radio on in my 1986 convertible when I park it for a week the battery will be dead. If I remember to turn the radio off the battery is fine. I figure that the "radio relay" is probably the cause but also have read that it is a bit#h to...

    Corvette Racing

Had a blast today. The Erie (Pennsylvania) Speedway opened its asphalt banked 3/8 mile track to our corvette club to open up our vettes and do some laps. Even though we couldn't "race" it was a blast to open up my vette and see what she could do without worrying about getting a ticket. Big...

    Am I the only idiot

What else are you going to use your wife's old toothbrushes for? Don't forget the Q-Tips and armour all for all the hoses. I can spend hours under the hood cleaning up and polishing and it does make a difference.

    New Mufflers??? Which Ones???

I put a all stainless steel CAT back magnaflow system on my 86 convertible this spring. Sound great, not too loud with the top down but has the old muscle car rumble when I get on it. No resonance at any RPM. Looks great with the 4 three inch pipes. Very resonable at performancepeddler.com for...

Good set of tools to start with

Snap on and craftsman are the way to go, if you're on a tight budget then go to K-mart and buy thier benchtop tools, same warrenty as craftsman (as long as you own them) at about half the price. Other tools I would consider are a set of star torques, a digital multi meter (sears has a decent...

    Belt Tensioner Replacement...Finally

Belt Tensioner Bearing Replacement...Finally Just finished changing mine out. Took about 1/2 hour total, real easy to do. 1. Loosen the A/C accumulator (just loosen the bracket, don't disconnect any hoses) so you can move it out of the way. 2. Using a 1/2" ratchet or breaker bar in the...

Corvette Cat back Exhausts - Opinions, experience, thoughts?

CATs I just put on a set of magnaflows. All stainless steel and they fit perfectly. I put them on in under an hour in my garage. Probably not as loud as the others but with a convertible I didn't want loud, just the deep throatly rumble. Paid $430 delivered in three days from the...

    Buying tires online

Tire Rack I buy all my tires from tire rack. Great service! My local tire dealer doesn't mind me bringing them in and he charges $8 a tire to mount and balance.

Got them on !!!!! Got my Magnaflow Cat back system on Thursday and installed it on Saturday. Easy job, did it myself in about 1 1/2 hours beginning to end. Sounds great, looks great, thanks to all of you who recommended them and especially to Jeff who put me on where to get them. Only ***** I...

    Magnaflows

Thinking about putting on a CATBACK SS Magnaflow system on my stock 86 convertible this year. Any input on choice of system, where to purchase, etc is appreciated. Just looking for a little more rumble than the stock system but not too loud for the convertible. Thanks.

    Insurance cost's for a C4?????????????

For four cars (full coverage with replacement value of $14K on the vette, 86 vette convertible, wife's 00 Neon, 03 Explorer and just liability and comp on the 95 Wrangler) cost me under $2000 a year. State Farm.

    Belt tensioner bearing

Thanks Thanks for the info, I'll try the bearing replacement. Much cheaper and why spend the extra $ if you don't have to.

    Belt tensioner bearing

The bearing went out on my belt tensioner (1986 convert). I was told I could just replace the bearing instead of the entire unit, is this true? If so, where is the best place to get the bearing? If not true, where is the best place to get the tensioner w/ bearing? Someone also told me the bolt...
