Via trial and error I found if I leave my stock Bose radio on in my 1986 convertible when I park it for a week the battery will be dead. If I remember to turn the radio off the battery is fine. I figure that the "radio relay" is probably the cause but also have read that it is a bit#h to replace. I picked up a new relay but decided to tap into some of the experience here first. Is this a typical symptom of a bad relay? How hard is it to replace the relay and any "tricks" to do it?

any luck with the relay?? my 86 i think is bad to or the radio is just plane dead?? i have the ralay, just found in my manual its near the IP in side the car from what i can tell in the middle pass side? but i can't get the lower carpet planel off on the pass side?? i don't see any thing else holding it in but it will not come out?

Haven't tried to replace the relay yet, just have to remember to shut off the radio. From what I read it's a bit#h to do. If you haven't bought a relay yet, go to the dealer. Several places out there want 20 - 30 $ for one and the dealer charged me $12 for an OEM part. Don't figure.

i got mine for about the same off rockauto.com did the dealer happen to tell you were it was located? the manual say IP panel and by the picture some were under the pass side dash. but i can't figure out how to get the lower carpet panel off, i have taken all the screws out that i see, but its not moving!!

Try this web site for radio repair, gives detailed instructions and pictures on how to test and replace the radio and radio relay. http://carstereohelp.net. Hope this helps, let me know how it comes out.

well i found the relay, man what B to get to!! i unhook the old one but left it screwed in, i had no way to get it out! then just plugged the new one in and hid it up under the dash. But still no radio!! guess the bose is spent?
