Check out these guys in CA. The come highly recommended from others that I have spoken too (sending them my carb in two weeks). Send them an email and you'll get a "very honest" reply. They deal in all makes and models of carbs.

I replaced my HB after i threw my first belt. The HB was shot!
I received my alternator from Summit yesterday. I bolted it on (chrome looks great) and what do you know, no excess vibration. A closer look into the old alternator (Delco), and it has some play when I move it around? Could that be...
I'll check out the water pump here this coming week. Been busy planning a block party (July 4th) for 500 of my neighbors :crazy.
Question - Would the water pump leak if the bearings are bad? or would it go all at once?
Thanks again!
Thanks for the ideas. The mounting bracket does vibrate a bit, but at this point I'm sure it is the alternator. Since they are kinda cheap, i'll order a new one. Then for sure I will be able to eliminate all the possibilities.
For know, i'll install a new belt and not drive to far from home. :)
Now twice in just as many months, I have thrown two brand new alternator belts. The first caused damage to the radiator house (cut it in half) and destroyed the clutch fan and the second (yesterday) I was much luckier. That one only split the belt. Though it wrapped itself around the...
MA had a screaming deal on the chambered a few months back. The install was simple and staight forward (taking the old exhaust out required a few metal cutting blades and a saw-zaw)
The sound was AWESOME! :D :cool Just what the Dr ordered! Now that is the way a Vette should sound. I like Heidi...
Looks Great Dave!!!!!!!! :)
I'm glad you like the HP gain. After we sell the house and move, this will be my next project. I think i'll do a cam change next winter - Summer in Seattle is short lived! :cry
Since I no longer need emissions testing, I think the 2101 will be the way to go. Did...
Though you may not be able to turn the HB with your hand, doesn't mean it is not shot. Centrifical forces are far more powerful then us mortals.
After 25 years or so, the rubber gets bad and they go. Some worse than others (like mine). It came darn close to spinning right off!
Get a good...
lg78,
You've gotta love when the wife likes the work done on you vette! I think i may have put in close to 6 hours. But the job i did looks better than most shops (IMO). Not that you look under your car a whole lot, but it's knowing you've done a quality job.
I'm glad you did this yourself...
lg78VETTE,
Congrats on your dual exhaust install! Your clutch should be able to handle your performance mods. If you are smelling clutch, maybe time for a new one. I had mine replaced a year ago (other owner). He noticed a HUGE differance. Alot also rides on how you drive your vette. Running it...
Congrats! :)
The previous owner of my car retrieved mine... he was only able to recover a quarter of it - most was shot or gone. Those are real gems to have in your files!
:)
For me, I use a "vacuum canister" that is used to change the oil in my (late) boat. You suck all the air out of the storage can, insert the long plastic tube into the oil you want extracted and release the valve. In about 5 minutes it sucks up the oil and is neatly stored in the can for a quick...
lg78,
Good choice all around. I think you will be very happy :).
If you have 4 good jack stands, a strong jack (hydralic) and are comfortable being on your back, save yourself some $$ and do it yourself. Installation is fairly straight forward.
You may though, encounter a few situations...
Well guys & gals I just finished the installation of the chambered exhaust I received on Monday. It was more of a job than expected (my whole stock exhaust was welded together), but after all was said and done - IT SOUNDS AWESOME!!! :_rock :dance Quieter than I thought, which makes me even more...
LG78 - I'm actually in reverse order. I cut out my old exhaust tonight to ready it for my MA Chambered to arrive on Tuesday. Then in about 6 weeks I'll start on the intake and cam.
Are you running Auto or 4spd? Why did you choose the 268 cam? Was that a recomendation from Comp?
I started with...
So it looks like my money should be spent towards impoving the intake (which I agree - I like the Performer) and maybe taking one step up on the cam to something like comps 268 or summits k1103. Then if I want more umph, install the roller tip rockers for a bit more. If I do that, should I also...
I want to know what you all think: :w
I want to change out my stock iron intake with something better
What do you like?
A stock aluminum intake off another year vette
or
Aftermarket intake like the Performer? ;shrug
What are the pros / cons of each. I still need to keep the EGR valve on...
Shawn - Good news I found you a catalog. It covers 53-79 Corvette. It has all the illustrations and text. Send me your address in my pm file and I will ship it out UPS today!!
Thanks!!!! I owe you one!
:upthumbs :beer
So Dave... If I purchase one of these "GM parts Catalog" for the shark years on line (ebay), does it have the same information that your book has?
