    Type of shock?

I replaced my tires with Bridgestone Potenza RE730s and absolutely love them! Much better ride quality, vibrations are gone, and very low tire noise.

13 inch front brake mod on pre 95/6 Vettes

The main reason that larger brakes stop a car better than smaller one is based upon physics. Essentially the farther out from the center of mass (in this case, the brake rotor), the easier it is to stop. Swept area, better heat dissapation all play a role too, of course, but everything plays a...

    Z06 Wheels on a C4

Thanks for the great info. I have found that most wheels don't look to good on Vettes. I love the HREs but they are SO expensive.:eek When I finally decide and get something, I will post some pics. Thanks again.

    Z06 Wheels on a C4

I am considering putting Z06 wheels on my '96 CE. I have grown little tire of the current look so thought that this upgrade would look nice. A couple of questions though. First, does anyone have pictures that they could share of a C4 with Z06 rims? Second, I thought about buying them on ebay...

    A/C display

I have this problem also. I hope there is an easy fix. The above link is a little complicated and I am not electrically inclined.

    1996 RPO Question

This must have happened after I moved to CA which was in 1999 because the State DMV told me that I would have to pay if my car did not have CA emissions. I was just happy that I didn't have to pay as my CE had emissions acceptable to the People's Republic of California.:cool

    1996 RPO Question

OK, time to confuse things a little more. I have a '96 CE LT1 that, according to the emission sticker on the radiator, has CA emissions. However, I do not have option NB6 as asked by 1badlt4. Interesting. I have also done a bit of sleuthing and found that since 2001 all Corvettes have the...

    1996 RPO Question

I am not so sure that this is true. Primarily because several other states use CA emissions criteria including Maine, Massachusset, New York and Vermont. It would seem that GM and other manufacturers, for simpilicity, would make their cars meet all state's regs rather than different cars for...

    1996 RPO Question

I will check to see if I have that option later today. However, I have been told by several "car" people that all cars for sale in the US over the past several years (including late model C4s) are 50 state legal. I bought my car in Ohio and brought it in to CA with no problems. Check under...

what exactly does a shift kit do?

    That sounds great. Any recommendations?

what exactly does a shift kit do?

C4Fan, You will have to let us know what you think after the kit is installed. I have a '96 CE with the auto and hate the fact that I can't shift it for myself. It feels so anemic. I thought about a shift kit but am always leary of the false promise that so many Vette products seem to tout...

    Error codes

JAD, I will try replacing the O2 sensor myself and check the knock sensor this weekend. Thanks for the advice. Rabbit, Lamenting the return of the chilly weather her in Santa Rosa and the impending rain, but hey, it beats the Midwest snow that I am used to.

    Wax on....

Well I guess that I might as well chime in. I have tried Meguire's, Eagle One, and Zymol and now Griot's. I have to say, I did not think that Mequires could be beaten, but they have in my opinion. Griot's is clearly superior. I have found that Zymol is only the best on non-clear coated cars...

    Hard water ??

One thing to think about when it comes to softened water is all of the salt that is used as the softener. I know the concentration is enough to kill most house plants so I am sure that it may be a hazard with respect to causing rust on your baby. I don't know how concerned you should be but it...

    More water spots....

You can also us the clay bar of which there are a number of brands including Mother's, Meguire's, California Gold, and Griot's, (just to name a few).

    Passenger Window scratched

I had this same thing happen to me just after an accident in which my driver's door was damaged. The cause was a screw that was used to hold on the exterior mirror was just a tad too long and resulted in the scratch. Good luck with it.

    Error codes

I had my '96 CE through out two codes today that caused the "Service Soon" light to come on:cry :cry. They were P0161 (O2 sensor) and P0332 (knock sensor). First question, did I define the error codes correctly? Second, how easy are each to fix? I assume a new O2 sensor would cure the first...

    changing to syn oil

My sources are just the general data reported from various places such as Motor Trend and Road & Track. Especially the former as their "Tech Tidbits" and "Technical Correspondence" have discussed this subject a few times. Unless someone out there has seen, heard, or read otherwise, all data...

    changing to syn oil

The common thread that most of these posts are alluding to is the propensity to develop oil leaks after the switch to synthetics. The main difference between synthetics and dino oil is that the in the former oil, molecules are all a consistent size (and very small), thus reducing engine wear...
