I do stand corrected. Fortunately, I have not yet heard from the original 1970-72 ZR-1 owners with their significant Corvettes. I'm sure they will also make a distinction between your ZR-1 and theirs as there is a definite difference there also. I had the great thrill of driving a 1989 ZR-1 from...
This is a most interesting and pertinent thread. As an Ambassador I have often been asked why someone should become a NCM member and what the value of being a member is. It has taken me a few years to articulate an answer to that reasonable question. My first response is what does any museum do...
I think my pulse and breathing rate are now normal enough to discuss getting a ride in a ZR-1. The NCM auctioned off a ride with Tadge Juechter(Chief Corvette Engineer) at the wheel to benefit the expansion project and I was lucky enough to win. Not only did I get a couple of laps around the...
I had my 1967 shipped from Santa Barbara to Charlotte, NC two years ago with Horseless Carriage. Their equipment is top notch and the drivers are very aware of automobile values and their care. Not so much as a speck on the car when it arrived. Highly recommended. And they aren't a broker...
When you get the hatch up, look at that portion that is mounted on the rear window. It is coated with a rubber like material and when it gets roughed up, it will hang in the bottom part of the latch. Take a sharp razor and trim off the jagged part until the latch opens easily. Good luck.

Just make sure it isn't a fake. There are a few of them around. Documentation, documentation, documentation. Still sounds like a good price. Makes me wonder.
The NCRS does not "certify" cars. The NCRS judging sheet only shows what was presented to the judges and does not guarantee that every part is correct and original. There are some very good fakes out there and some are almost impossible to catch. Even tank stickers have been known to be...
I shipped my 1967 Corvette from California to North Carolina last year and used Horseless Carriage. The cost was $1600.00 and they use closed trailers. I watched the loading and my son the unloading and both operations were extremely careful and professional. No damage whatsoever. All...
Congratulations on the "new" 1979. I just sold my 79 as I moved from coast to coast and had too many cars to move them all. I had owned it for 24 years. I sure miss that car as it was a ball to drive. With the low end grunt of the L48 and the "tossibility" of the car in curves (thanks Vette...
Hey Bugster, I just bought a 2007 Z06 and I took a 7year 72000 mile extended warranty on it. Remember, the 5 year factory warranty is powertrain only after 3 years. All you have to do is lose one computer in the car and you have made your premium back. I actually fear things other than the...
Sounds like you found an honest mechanic. And a good one. The 1989 Corvette was notorious for leaking slave brake cylinders and the vacuum booster for the power brakes. I had a 89 and both of these items failed. I did dodge having the M/C go out with it. The parts list indicates a very...
Go to www.mobiloil.com for info on all the Mobile oils. The 15,000 mile Mobil 1 extended is a full synthetic oil and a good replacement for the standard Mobil 1 oil. The Mobile Clean 7500 is a synthetic blend(?). The Mobile Clean 5000 is a conventional oil and not suitable for new Corvettes...
This is a well known C5 problem. I just had the problem on my 2003 AE at about 24,000 miles. The mechanic at my dealership has done several of these repairs and he was able to complete mine in one day's work. I'm glad it was still under warranty and this is probably not a cheap repair...
