My early parts book (70-72) shows a different part number for coupe and convert. Later parts book shows the same part number for both. Doesn't say anything about the code ID.
just checked my 71' Convert and it says DOT 15 M74 AS-2 LN on both windows.
The clutch is not aligned. Hook up the clutch linkage and have a friend depress the clutch while you move the trannie into position. You may have to rotate the output shaft while you push.
Just use the correct puller. The kind that uses the 3 bolt holes in the dampener. Don't let the center puller bolt push directly on the end of the crank, screw in a bolt and push on the head of it with the puller so you don't damage the threads in the crank.
Sounds like it might be the "Timer relay". It is suppose to shut off the defogger after about 10 minutes, but yours kicks off right away. Could also be a poor ground. The ground is located on the left windshield pillarHere's the circuit.

Here's a used one that just started...
The last digits of the VIN get stamped on the stamp pad located on the right front corner of the block. If these numbers agree, you have the original block.
If you want loud then buy the Hooker Max Flows. No restriction, but loud. The STS spiral baffels have very little restriction and a sound that won't hurt your ears, but it still sounds aggressive especialy when you get on it.
