Ten years ago, I gave my furnace man $75 for an old 60Kbtu hanging furnace he took out of a barber shop. The gas line to the garage cost $400 and the stack and plumbing another $50-60. Except for the concrete floor, it will keep my 3.5 car garage warm anytime. The colder the outside temp, the...

The mechanical fan could not pull enough air. I figured that since I was going to burn the watts at the alternator, what's the point of having a clutch and GM fan - so I removed the mechanical fan and put a 16 inch electric fan in the shroud opening instead.
It works fine, and the car gets...
Not as elegant as 67heaven's hood, but it will do.
A few years ago, when I noticed the stinger on the underside of the hood let the fan recycle hot air over the top of the A-C hood seal, I stuffed a piece of foam in the stinger above the hood support to fill the gap. That not only helped city...
I just got done replacing the aframe bushings, and I don't see how my BB original springs could come out without a pry bar.
I wasted time puting in a spring compressor, only to find out that with the lower aframe all the way down, the coil spring is bowed out - but wouldn't come out untill I...
IMO get your ujoints at azone, or some other store that offers lifetime warrantee. Autozone has replace my 6 ujoints 5 times over. Swing axles are hard to wear out, and can be cleaned and painted.
You need to lift the body to install the fuel line. IMO you should replace the brake line that...
Thanks - I looked at the chart and put them on at 70-70-100.
I made notes as I took them off (with a torque wrench) 65-65-120, but the big one had lots of corrosion and the small ones are the same thread and strength as the caliper bolt (which are 70), so I'm using 70 for those.
I can't find the torques for the bolts that hold the front brake shield and the caliper bracket to the steering knuckle. My 66 aim and service manual are no help. Does the 65 or 67 aim or manual show the torques??
I use a cheap block and tackle above the rear of the hood to remove/install it by myself. With a rope from it to each hood latch bayonet and the hood up, I tie it off.
Then I remove the hood hinge bolts, lift the front of the hood, walk to the side of the car with the rope and lower the hood...
I'm not worried about that. I don't intend to cut the hood.
The front of the stinger extends past the front of the A-C exchanger in a high pressure area at the top of the rad support. With the A-C seals in place and all the added seals I have on the rad and the shroud, air blows through there...
Thanks. I see it in photos of Noland's book now (I just looked). They finally noticed that the higher the hp got, the harder it was to cool the engine and the engine bay.
Does anyone know if sb 67 hoods also had the opening plugged?
It doesn't look that way in Noland's book, but that's a...
67heaven - I noticed that the stinger passage under my 66 hood above the front cross support (above the rad) is open while yours is closed. Did you close it, or do 67 hoods look like that?
I stuffed foam in mine (to keep the bugs out and the engine cooler), but I am thinking of putting a cold...
What is their main product target now?
I can't believe the restorod market is keeping them going with a demand for shifters for 60s and 70s cars - or are there really that many restorations in progress?
The hood is expensive. You can remove it and take it to a shop with a diamond tipped drill.
You can also invest in a drill if you want to DIY. If so, put long bolts in the neigboring holes as a guide for the proper drill and tap angle.
Joe Lucia always recommends the second largest green pry bar that Orchard Supply sells - it fits right between the frame and crossmember and pops it right out.
Silly me. I mounted the NAPA filter on the outlet side of my Purolator pump - 6 years ago. I just changed the filter last sumer. That brought it up from 0.8 to 1.0 gallons/minute again. The nice thing about electric fuel pumps is that you can check the flow rate at the carb anytime.
Lojack won't help on rt66 but works in some cities. Check with local police to see if they will trace in your city.
I bought an alarm that allows me to surpress the beep at arm and disarm. My (no longer available in the USA) cellalarm calls me on my other cell phone if the car alarm goes off...
To stay legal - you can attach your license plate with reflectors. If you intend to drive a lot, and especially at night, you may want to consider corner reflectors of some sort, in the unlikely event that the car has to be left parked at the side of the road in the dark. If I didn't have that...
The c2 gm tunnel insulation is above the trans on the bottom of the floor.
It gets oil and water soaked fast and makes trans removal messy, so I used the same duct insulation above the trans that I used on the underside of the body to repell the exhaust and A-C heat.
