cool
I bought mine in Dcember and I LOVE THIS CAR. Its got a lot of quircks but that gives it great personality.
Just be ready to do all your own maintenance and whatch those crazy old seals they're a bunch of leakers an they'll drive you nuts. Only believe about about a third of what...
send it to Vig
I went to Corvettes only and also checked into other ways to service the thing. If you dont want to find/ replace the bad parts yourself SENT IT TO VIG. It wont take long
mine works the same way
My 84 heats exactly the same way the fan doesnt even start till 230 degrees. The car runs fine and has good acceleration and the fan cools it right down to about 205. The factory thermostat doesn't even open till 190 I gues I dont see why you have a problem with this...
I have a new set of those too
I got a set of those last fall and they are great. AWESOME price too Mine were 650 for the set and a four wheel alignment. I got mine at Firestone where did you get yours.
love the xfire
Shadow I love my Xfire ijection system. So I will discount your input as a person with lack of experience. KMCWAN my heart goes out to you it would be killing me not to be driving my vette
Hi everyone,
I was just fiddling with my 84 and this question came up. Do I need to advance the timing on an 84 for altitude or does the computer handle altitude changes. Since I'm at 5000 ft normally I would expect to see about 10 degrees difference from normal timing setting.
One last thing if the keepers dont want to go in apply some grease to them this kind of helps hold them in place while you get the other one in (makes them sticky)
Basically to replace the vavle seals is a pretty straightforward thing if you dont learn it the hard way like I did. Pretty much with a car that age the seals are probably shot.
To replace them
Basically you
pull the valve covers
remove the plug on the cuylinder your fiddling with
insert a...
sounds like intermittent ground
the big white connector holding the two boards together sounds like its getiting loose is really easy to remove it disassemble it an look at it. look for burn marks on the connector
got it off
Finally I got it off. Oops missed some bolts. Now I'm looking at it and I can see that three of the exhaust valves are a nice light grey color and one is dark brown. I'm thinking this isn't good. Is it? When I look at the valve and the seat neither one looks bad on the seating...
Hi everyone,
I have an 84 and am trying to remove one of the heads. I have removed all the bolts and boy is that sucker stuck. Anyone have any suggestions (ie tricks) to remove this guy.

similiar problem
I had a similiar sounding problem in a firebird a couple of years ago. When it was hot the cars would just quit (sometimes). I took it into 2 mechanics and a pontiac dealer. (and of course the problem would never manifest itself while they had it)
After the Pontiac dealer...
exhaust changeout
Just one caution on your exhaust changeout. I dont know about other states but in Colorado if you fiddle with your exhaust system especially with your cat you run the risk of failing the emmissions requirement and once you fail that here its really a pain to bring it back...
unbelievable
I just did the same replacement your doing and the support for the hood is just loose now. I mean it doesnt even touch the stops when open, those gas springs really do the trick.
I saw those ones with the squared tips but I am extremely budget minded (that happens with three kids) Since it was 150 for the mufflers and another 40 to install. I thought the targas would suffice. Plus they still look good and shouldn't be any difference in performance. I didnt want to...
mufflers
I notices no difference between the interior noise of these and the turbo mufflers that were previously installed. The nice thing about them is that they are actually pretty quiet until you hit the gas and the car just wakes up.
They are glass packed.
not that expensive
I picked my 84 up with 64k on it for 6400 and put tires and mufflers on it. It runs like a top fast and smoooooooth. I think that the lower priced units can be great deals. But you probably should have some ability to work on them yourself. If your paying a mechanic for...
