The '96 Bose Gold system has a CD player and cassette. It takes the same dash space, but I don't know if there is any wiring/connector difference with the "premium sound" speakers. Shouldn't be.
The cover plate does NOT block any error warnings. The warning lights will show brightly even through the white emblem, even during the day. It's just a nice dress-up piece.
I ran across this warning about jump starting a Vette: Always hook up the cables and let it sit a few minutes before turning on the key. This powers up all of the microprocessor boards and prevents damage. The owners manual has specific information on jump starting that's wise to follow...
The wide tires have to be balanced much more often than normal widths. The balance seems to be constantly changing throughout the life of the tire. Not sure, but the Firestone Firehawks seem to need balancing more often than the runflats (which I enjoyed I could stand). Of course it doesn't help...
I had a strange smell and took the car to a muffler shop thinking I had a bad cat....it was a plastic bag stuck on a muffler! The shop tech said he sees it lot.
Or, you could buy a '46-48 Hudson! If my fading memory serves, Hudson in the late '30s or '40s had a pre-selection manual transmission: electric solenoids shifted the trans at preselected speeds chosen by buttons on a steering column stalk.
Be careful jump starting a C4 or you can fry the ECM. If you turn on the key with a 50 amp batter charger hooked up the ECM can get a voltage spike. The charger sees a low battery condition and kicks in, sending a voltage spike. Same when you hook to a battery on another running vehicle. To...
Never heard of cutting the MAF screen out, but just cleaned my throttle body (wow, what an improvement) and found quite a bit of trash on the screen!! Can't imagine how it got there since the air intake system is stock and the filter was seated correctly. Still, I had to use a toothbrush to get...
Don't forget possibly the cheapest fix on the cooling system: a $6 radiator cap. Old caps loose spring tensions and the pressurized system (16 lbs. I believe) raises the boiling point of the water in the system.

I got an acrylic top from Thompson Astro Tops, Florence, Ala., for $450 exchange and have been very pleased. It has not scratched at all. He has all three colors and will advise which was OEM but I couldn't see much difference in the bronze and smoke. Luckily I'm close by and he installed and...
You can burn your own CDs for the early Bose players...just be sure to use the 74 minute disks. Many C4 Bose players won't read the 80 minute disks. The 74 minute disks are getting hard to find, but I got a bunch on sale at BestBuy for 12 cents each. Some burning software allows you to specify...
Jman, sounds like you have a problem with the control module...or perhaps someone has removed all the wheel sensors? The LTPWS warning light should not come on until you have driven several miles. Disconecting the battery is worth a try as that does force resets. Then, lower the air pressure in...
Re CD player: Remember not to leave CDs in the Bose during summer heat. There is a small rubber piece on the head that can fuse to the CD, ruining the unit.
I too have a random wiper 'chatter' problem with my '96. Sometimes, infrequently, the Trico Exacti-Fit blades seem to drag on the glass and chatter or shutter. This slows the drivers' side wiper and the blades crash...loudly! The mechanism is tight with no slack, and the arms seem to be in...
