I have a Delco Bose Gold CD/Cassette/Radio in my 90. It started to show the ERR message when I loaded a CD but would play after a few attenpts at inserting a CD.
Now it's gone real bad and will only occassionally play. It won't even eject a CD unless I switch it off. It just makes a strange static noise thiugh every now and then it will play a CD as if there's nothing up.
I'm guessing it's the laser or transport mechanism (it's only a guess though!) Anyone else had this problem? Is this likely to be the sort of routine repair that any stereo repair shop can perform?
Anyone had any luck with cleaning the laser lens? All the cleaning kits I've seen have brushes and I tried one and it got stuck! It came out finally after a LOT of time with the eject button!
A while ago I was thinking of changing to an aftermarket setup but I decided against it because I like the "stock" look of the Delco though I'm starting to wonder. Every Bose I've owned and a few others I've known have given plenty of trouble.
Mind you, my car is 12 years old...
