Thanks T, The 427 is unbelievable. I thought it was black at first too, but it's called Black Cherry. The appraiser told me that it's a 1979 GM color. Speaking of, I need to get some touch up paint. As far as making a 427 out of a 400, don't start me lying. There are more than a few...

Dewitt Setup 400hp_76, The Dewitt Setup isn't cheap, but from what I could tell before the radiator began spewing coolant, it lowered my idle temp 40-50 degrees. I would suggest you call and talk to him and see what he can do for you. Here's the site: www.Dewitts.com and his number is...

Dimmer Switch Chris, In my 69, it's just like Tom said. The dimmer switch is under a rubber pad which is part of the carpet.

Tom Dewitt is the MAN!!! Tom Dewitt just replied to my email and here's what he had to say: "Sorry to here you had troubles. I've been selling Griffin rads for over three years now and this is the first leaker that has been reported. I have a new one in stock and I will ship it monday. I will...

Fan Mounting jsimpson, I think I'm ok with the fan mounts. They came from Dewitts already mounted on the Radiator with self-tapping screws on the upper and lower portions of the radiator. That would be a huge mistake by Dewitts if they screwed up by doing that.

Websit updated with pics I posted the pics on the website. They are on the left-hand side. Very sad to look at. If you scroll down toward the bottom, you'll see three pics of a couple beautiful 56 Chevy's that the guy had behind his house. Black Cherry

:mad AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! ok...had to get that off my chest. I spent just over four hours taking out the old radiator, fan and shroud. The stuff was not too bad to take out. There were a couple issues with the "previously mounted fans". They were about 1.5" to far left...

Coolant Choice I've been reading some of the past threads on coolant choice. Currently, I have the Green Stuff in the car. C4C5 posted that Dexcool doesn't do what it's supposed to do if it's not the only coolant in the system...meaning there is still Green Stuff stuck to the metal after a...

    What is your range/MPG?

whew, some nice numbers posted up here On my trip to NYC, I got just over 12 mpg on the Turnpike. I don't even want to know what it gets around town, especially when I'm snapping my neck, which is usually most of the time. 427 435hp 4.11 gears Chris, what about the 69. How does she do? Anthony

    Window alignment

Window Alignment All, Welcome to CAC. I had a similar problem on my 69, still do actually. Other things took priority. Here's what I found out though. Get the AIM for your car. It has a detailed instruction on how to adjust the windows. Also click this link for the thread that I started...

Radiator I just talked to the previous owner...news wasn't what I wanted to hear. I thought the radiator was brand new because it looked so good...boy was I wrong. It's the factory correct brass radiator, maybe even the original. He had it out and cleaned/painted and put back in. Darn. Is...

I know this topic has been covered a couple of times but here it goes again. I have a 427 that ran 210 on the highway and about 240 in stop and go traffic without a thermostat. A couple of people suggested that I get a stat so the radiator could do it's job. I ordered a 160 degree stat and...
