Glad you got your new toy and are satisfied with it!
My 89 has the L98 so it is not a good comparison. I have a 160 degree thermostat installed and I would run about 160 to 175 while sitting. I also have the Hypertech II chip so my cooling fan comes on at 175 block coolant temperature.
I think...
I checked some of the old forums and I know that synthetic oil has been discussed before but I have a concern about leakage that I have not seen asked in this way.
Can a synthetic oil like Mobil-1 be used in the 1989 vintage L98 without causing a leakage problem? (I have read that synthetics...
Hey, welcome to CAC. Wow.....a new 95! And red too! I am sure you will super enjoy that car.
I have a little older 89 L98 that is Nassau Blue and I love it. Well anyway, welcome to the elite crowd of CORVETTE ownership. And don't forget the 'WAVE'. :Twist
Regards and Much Fun,

Keith,
I read the threads you posted. I see what you mean. They almost answer my questions. It sounds like Graham will have a few more comments but I think I am squared away.
I don't want to sound stupid, and I think I may have seen this somewhere, but where can I buy a Dana 36 series...
I have an 89 convertble with the L98, 700R4 auto trans and 2:59 rear axle ratio.
I would like to change to the 3:07 or 3:31 rear gears for a little better punch from the hole. I still need a good highway cruiser so I don't want to go way up in ratios.
Has anyone tried this change?
I know...
I have the same problem with the blue leather seats in my 89. I ordered the leather dye repair kit from Eckler's for 59.99 plus tax and shipping. I have not used it yet so I don't know how good it will work. I am hoping for good results.
Radar :beer :)
I think the throttle body area on the L98 is warmed by the engine coolant to reduce the emisiions and to aid the engine warm-up. While this helps when first starting, this also reduces the density of the air flowing into the engine. If I remeber my physics correctly, the perfect gas law is...
In my mind, what is more important is the oil temperature. That is the medium that needs to burn off moisture to keep corrosion in check . With the 160 degree t'stat, my oil temps hold about 185 deg under light loads and about 201 to 206 on a hard cruise. These temperutres seem plenty warm to...
89 C4: Has anyone tried replacing the Bose stereo system with an aftermarket receiver?
I was thinking of pulling all four Bose speaker boxes out, the factory radio out and replacing them with a nice receiver with good sound and four new speakers. I heard that the factory radio has dimmer...
Hi -J
Well I can not exactly answer that question directly because I bought the car from my brother with the chip installed. He tells me that it made quite a difference. He said the car was pretty flat from a dead stop before the chip change.
The car runs just fine and feels very strong. I...
Thanks for that information. I was not sure if the ECM would loose its memory. Now I know.
I think what I am going to do is get the Battery Tender so I can work on the car occassionaly over the winter if the weather is warm enough.
I appreciate the feedback..

I have a question about the battery on a 1989 C4 relating to winter storage. Is there a problem with removing the battery from the car for a six month period?
I searched and read thru all of the older posts and found some information on trickle chargers. I could use that appraoch but other...
I have a Hypertech Stage 2 chip in my 89 convertible. I think the Stage 2 is the same as the Stage 1 except the cooling fans are set to come on at 174 degrees so a 160 engine thermosata is needed.
I also have installed a 160 degree engine thermostat. The car runs great and has much better pull...
