    What's a kawvet?

What is a kawvet? A Corvette that lives in NYC, (yes I'm native New Yorker).

    Spare

Thanks for the replies. A new problem has developed, this time when I checked it, the pressure had dropped and I noticed a bubbling where the rim of the wheel meets the rubber. Can it be remounted, or does it HAVE to be replaced?

    Spare

How long are you folks keeping your spares for before replacing them. I've got a 94 with the original spare, and it holds its rated pressure for at least a month. Should it be replaced, its twelve years old?

Anyone drive their C4 every day?

I'd like to see a show were C4's compete in mileage classes. Compared to lower mileage vettes, mine has daily driver scars, but for a 12 year old with 87K, its in great shape.

Anyone drive their C4 every day?

87,000 miles, driven everyday, and three days a week, 83 miles round trip to work. Holding up great, new water pump installed this year. I don't run fluid through the throttle body, as you have to wait for a cold night in January to get temperatures below 60 degrees.

Pressure Flush with Phoenix Systems V12

I'm going to pressure flush the brakes from the master cylinder using a Phoenix Systems V-12. Phoenix suggests buying a stock brake fluid resevoir cap and putting a small pipe through the center of it to connect to the Phoenix V-12. This would take the place of the pressure bleeder adaptor on...

    Throttle Body Coolant Bypass Kit

I've got a 94 and live in South Florida. You've got to wait for a cold night in January to get temperatures below 60 degrees so out with the coolant through the throttle body. On the right side of the engine I just replaced the hose eliminating the "T" hose going to the throttle body. On the...

    PCV Valve ?

PCV Valve? Never mind, found it. I've got an 94. Instead of the crankcase ventilation valve being where it shoiuld be I've got a pass through tube and it looks stock. How do I know it should be there, the factory manual, section 6E3-C13-2, Figure C13-3. Does anyone know why it isn't there...

auto or not to auto that is the question.

I'm 55 and I've never owned a stick, and probably have driven one a total of ten hours in my entire life, until I bought a 94 with the ZF manual. I've put on 12,000 miles in eight months, probably 4,000 in bumper to bumper Miami traffic and I still love the stick. One of the best decisions I've...

    Looking to buy my 1st

I recommend three books. The first is Duntov's biography, "Zora Arkus-Duntov: The Legend Behind Corvette", you'll learn about the early Corvettes. Then get a hold "Corvette from the Inside: The Development History as told by Dave McLellan, Corvette's Chief Engineer 1975-1992". This will tell you...

Officially: My Car is Now a Senior Citizen

I'm also a Florida resident. You paid tax on the car when you bought it, now you have to pay tax on the car to keep it! Unbelievable. PS, we don't have a state income tax either, but our home insurance is a killer. Know how to prepare a Corvette for a hurricane evacuation when you leave it...

    Uneven Tire Wear

I had the car aligned about 9000 miles ago, (April 05). The left front tire shows tread wear on the edges very obviously compared to the right front. The car feels pretty much aligned and I check the tire pressure almost every week, as I drive about 50 miles a day at highway speeds. Any ideas...

    Road Trip Prep?

Interesting comments, tbanks. I always travel with plenty of tools, going to change the oil and filter before the trip, the "coolant rubber" is new, as is the belt. Forgot the tire plug kit, will add it. The trip won't be for until next month, so Rita will long be gone.

    Road Trip Prep?

I plan to drive from South Florida to Texas and back. My C4 has 83K, any suggestions for prep'ing the car for the trip?

What should my brakes feel like?

I find that my brakes also feel 'semi-powered', i.e. on my wife's Ford Windstar, a slight pressure all the way down will result in a hard braking force. The Vette requires a harder pressure for the same stopping power. As the Vette is my first high performance car, I considered the additional...

    Please recommend Ramp Manufacturer

The "Mustang" ramps look great. After using the Rhinos to change the oil and transmission fluid, I find they move around too much, too low in mass, I put 2x4's between the Rhino's and the wall to prevent them from moving towards the wall. Additionally, I found the end of the ramp to deform...

    94 Manual Transmission Plugs - Allen ??

Actually in the Haynes book they picture shows a square hole, I was wondering what size it was, now it makes a little more sense.

    Please recommend Ramp Manufacturer

Bought 12K Rhino's and built 'ramps for the ramp' with 2 * 12 * 4' and drilled a hole so an anchor bolt can be dropped through to the Rhinos, then tapered the edges with a 60 degree cut, and supported them with a 1 * 1 * 12 a little forward of midpoint. The combo works great, Rhinos could be a...

    94 Manual Transmission Plugs - Allen ??

Interesting thing, Hazet makes a 17MM socket, for a half inch wrench. The 1/2 implies that the tough time people had loosening the plug was not that unusual. I find the 1/2 wrench a little unusual for the recommended torque setting.
