I bought the upper dash set and can't figure out how it goes. It looks like it is cut to make 4 pieces. I have spent a few hours trying to figure this out, I am stumped... The AIM does not show which piece goes where.. I could use some help here... Thank, Kurt
I can't wait to get started. Thanks for the info.. I guess I will have to buy some beer and invite about 10 guys for a body lifting party. Beer only after the body is back on... Thanks again.. Kurt
I am using a friends Chassis Kit to do my 67. The Kit is from the early 90's. Looking for any updates. Quanta was of no help.. Maybe there has been no changes?? The bulletins I have date 89-90. If anyone has later info, I would appreciate it.. Thanks, Kurt
I am trying to find the rear vin stamp on my 67 frame. Pretty rusty.. I think it should be back by the rear body mount, not above the rear shock mount as in earlier cars. I read that some cars did not get two stamps? If anyone could tell me exactly where the rear vin should be, I will start...
I just finished painting my engine and ready to bolt on the exhaust manifolds. Would it hurt to leave the paint on the heads where the exhaust manifold contacts the heads?? Or, should I get all the paint off?? I can't see how the paint will hurt anything... Thanks, Kurt
I think I will be OK.. All I did was make the bolt hole the same size GM did.. I also used a angle finder and checked the angle of the intake mount on the engine and compaired it to the intake.. I was OK here too.. Now that it fits right what would a machine shop do to the manifold?? If I can...
Here is an update.. I spoke to a friend who has several Camaro Z-28's about this issue (Z-28 uses same type manifold). He advised me to find the proper drill size for the intake bolt holes and from the bottom side, run the drill thru to reshape the hole. He says, these aluminum intakes will...
The block was square decked and the heads were also surfaced. I figured the head gasket thickness would be increased for this machining?? The rocking of the manifold worries me. I wonder if the manifold will twist a bit when torqued. Thanks, Kurt
Just got my 67 L-79 back from the rebuilders, tried to bolt the intake on and the bolts won't line up. My builder is out of town for 2 weeks so, I have to try and figure it out myself. The bolt holes in the manifold are a tight fit and maybe if I make them bigger, I can get the bolts to line up...
I Need to replace the input shaft bearing on my 67 Muncie. I have no special tools. It looks like the input shaft bearing may come out without complete disassembly of the trans. Can this be done without the tools? I know better than to rip into it without research.. Thanks, Kurt
I read somewhere that to install the original "V" shields on my 67 small block, I will have to use original motor mounts. I understand the replacement " locking type" motor mounts will not allow the shield to attach at the mount.
Has anyone run into this? Thanks, Kurt
Mike, Clean it good and drive it enough to see where it is coming out. Sometimes the flange has such a bad groove, it wont seal. Also the area where the seal seats in the housing may he pitted and leaking, add some sealer to the outside edge of the seal. Last place is the splines, they need a...
BarryK, Great info... That added foam looked original to me.. I will see of I can get the added foam off and reuse it.. I was able to view a 67 AIM, sure enough the added foam is shown.. Thanks for the info. Kurt
I am replacing the leather seat covers on my 67, along with the foam. When I pulled my covers, I found the original foam had a section along the outside of the seating area added onto it. It looks like a preformed foam piece glued to the foam pads. This added foam would give the seat a more...
Mine is 10'' long, just the threaded rod section. If I try your method, my hooks grab the midsection of the spring. Plan B... These springs scare the cr*p out of me... Kurt
