The drag radials were a BIG part of the improvement. I also learned how to drive better. So it is hard to say how much was due to the intake system. I believe it was worthwhile.
The installation took several hours, as you have to be able to get under the car. It is fairly straight-forward...
I have had one on my Z06 for about 3 years. I cannot fully separate the effects of two things I did at the same time, but hear me out. I could run the quarter mile in about 13 flat at 108-109 with my stock Z06 at the local strip. I added the Vara-Ram and drag radials at roughly the same time...
That happened to me as well. A local tire shop did get them off. They took a 12 point socket and pounded it on over the outside of the locking nut and managed to get them all off. I think I bought them a new socket- I can't remember for sure.
This a very difficult time of year for Remo. His Corvette is still locked up in Guy's basement, as the roads are not yet pristine enough to get his baby out. At the same time, his supply of winter meds has been depleted. Let us all hope that spring comes to Massachusetts very soon. :ohnoes
The GM service manuals are a very good investment. It is a three volume set and retails for about $175. They can be found for less. I bought mine used on e-bay for about half of that.
