    suspension issues and potential upgrades

Morning sickness? Is my steering about to give birth to a new rack? I'm not familiar with that term... I replaced both rear bearings myself not long after getting the car, so those should be fine. With respect to a custom alignment, is that something any decent tire shop could do, or am I...

    suspension issues and potential upgrades

I do have poly bushings on the A-arms in front as well as on the sway bar. The wheel bearings are both good (I replaced one when I got the car with a genuine AC Delco, and the other was done not long before). Tie rod ends were replaced some time after I got the car. Basically 12k miles or...

    suspension issues and potential upgrades

One of the last areas of my car that needs work is the suspension. It came with the Delco/Bilstein shocks originally, plus whatever springs came with that package, and currently has TPIS's custom shocks. I've got mostly urethane bushings in the dogbones and the swaybars (mostly - there are...

    LS1 milage from an L98

This reminds me of an interesting comparison that AutoWeek or Automobile did last year where they took a Prius (hybrid), a Corvette (gas), and a Jetta (diesel) on a long roadtrip. The Jetta did best, but IIRC the Vette beat the Prius - one reason they gave being that they never had to slow down...

    LS1 milage from an L98

I agree with the other posts. Even with 135k miles on my 86 4+3, I'd get 25-26 MPG on the hwy. During the 93 Corvette Caravan, my 1700+ mile trip that included highway cruising, sitting in traffic, some light fun and games, and lots of slow crawling netted me over 24 mpg. The secret (and the...

84 vette built in 83, is it a 30th anniversery edition?

One other oddity of note is that dealer brochures exist for the '83 -- and in reasonably large quantities. I bought one when I was at the NCM for $5... IIRC, the story behind the museum's 83 is that it was stored under a stairwell in the factory and forgotten about until some later...

How to remove headliner for 1987

When I re-did my 86, I used the following method: - take the roof panel off and turn it upside-down on a blanket or carpet. - get a plastic drywall mud knife or similar (plastic, not REAL flexible, thin) and work it all around the edge of the headliner, prying slightly. You may need to go...

    Help! Interior lights stay on?

Wouldn't a broken door switch turn on the door-ajar light, though? He said it's off. [RICHR]

    Help! Interior lights stay on?

Interior light timer module? Little black box about 2x2x1/2 that sits near the ECU under the passenger-side hush panel. [RICHR]

    Question: Inside bolts on SuperRam?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I found it was impossible to put the plenum on the runners before installing the runners - you didn't have enough clearance to lower the runners past the fuel rails. And if you need to put the nuts on the bolts already on the engine, then you're no better off...

    Question: Inside bolts on SuperRam?

If you want me to shoot specific areas for you, holler. Most of my lines are routed close to stock, but not ALL of them could be. Indeed! I've had lots of questions and compliments on them, and I love them - except that the welded break has opened up again and it's also (more of) a pain to...

    Help! C4 SIDEPIPES

Power Effects is/was the company that makes them. I've seen used sets for sale even within the last couple months, so keep your eyes open, but the website may answer some of your questions and they were still answering the phones last year. [RICHR]

    Question: Inside bolts on SuperRam?

This is probably the best engine shot I have: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=321108&id=809077305 This is the album of the engine rebuild. [RICHR]

Help! moving the engine's position slightly

JB Weld = friend indeed. Fixed the radiator side tank on my Outback with the stuff long enough for a new radiator to arrive. My valve covers are Pro-form (GM Performance) and they don't fit well at all. They've got the double rim that seals all around both sides of the head, but they didn't...

Help! moving the engine's position slightly

Eh. Windshield wipers are over-rated anyway. Just use Rain-Ex and drive faster! Besides - Vettes don't belong in the wet anyway :) . I just looked at mine again; my wiper cover is cracked, but NOT where it passes closest to the plenum. It looks like when someone (maybe me...) was putting...

    Question: Inside bolts on SuperRam?

I hesitate to suggest this, but you could probably grind 1/8" or so off the corner of the plenum corner and be fine. IIRC the walls are pretty thick. Might not do much for the looks, though :(. [RICHR]

Question: '87 hood rod on '84?

    The 84 hood is different from 85+? My 86 had the hood mount points on both sides, so putting in the later (93+, I used) prop rod was a cinch. Required some minor grinding on the lower end, but the upper was bolt-on. [RICHR}

Anyone for some pics of a scale model '86??

Very cool! Who makes the main kit? [RICHR]

    Question: Inside bolts on SuperRam?

I've got maybe 1/4-1/2" clearance by the wiper motor; it's enough that it doesn't hit so I'm not concerned. I've considered polishing/painting mine, but it looks decent the way it is for now. If I did anything, it'd be to paint or powdercoat it red to match the rest of the car. [RICHR]
