Digging around, I've discovered:
1) That the Hxxx means history - so no apparently code currently active
2) When all else fails, the flashing sys message with no set codes often occurs with a low voltage situation
So I probably have a weak battery that was affected by the underhood...
Where in the service manual is the area that would list the various codes received when flashing the ALDL - I can't find the section...

Returned to the car after lunch - and it would not start.
Click - Click - Click
Had somone jump me, and the car started immediately.

Experiencing a new problem...
When the key is turned - 3 lights are illuminated in the DIC - the Service Engine light, the ABS warning light and the red battery icon. The starter does not turn. The underhood lights, interior lights, radio etc. work...
Relatively new battery - just had it...
Problem solved - ended up removing the plenum and unbolting the fuel rail so that I could access the vacuum hose that I had inadverently pinched under the rail.
Thanks -
Just finished replacing my injectors and reassembling the engine.
Have a question on the vaccum hose for the FPR.
I see that there are 3 vacuum port on plenum, near the sensor that is mounted on the rear passenger side. The rear port has a hose running directly to the sensor (I never...
My only concern would be that the window is no longer supported along the entire edge where it sits on the vehicle - only by the latch that is attached to the 'gadget' - would that single point put more stress on the glass and possible cause it to break due to extra flexing and bouncing?
To answer my own question - I finally got a T-30 bit to fit the screws and removed the air bag. In addition to disconnecting the battery, I also pulled the airbag fuse.
Ringleader -
I removed the airbag from my car this morning and the wire with the spring for the horns that goes into the column immediately fell out. It looks as if I will need to replace my cam as well.
Appreciate the part # when you get a chance to post on Tuesday.

I'm in the process of checking the wiring for my horns (steering wheel horn switches do not work) and need to remove the airbag from the steering wheel.
1) Might anyone know the size and style of bolt heads used to hold the bag in the wheel. It appears to be a 5 sided hex nut - as opposed...
Ringleader -
Please post the part # for the cam if you have it. It appears that they need to pull the wheel to get to the cam - I see the wire with the spring going into a hold in the steering wheel. Is the cam on the otherside - down the shaft?
The solution others have mentioned indicates...
I have the same problem with my '90 - have yet to tackle the fix.

I think this may be helpful....
How about vehicles that did not specify synthetic oil from the factory?
Can I switch my Low Mileage 1990 L98 to Mobil 1 w/o any problems - or should I stick with petro based products? Does the viscosity range change or would I stick the same (10w30 as I recall off the top of my head)....
Dan -
I've had the radio out on my 90 several times.
The last time it was out, I wanted to remove the HVAC control head to clean the contacts and check the buttons. However, I had a problem removing the bolt on the right hand mounting bracket - and anticipating the next step - could not see...
I've had similar problems over the years with my '90.
Sometimes I temporarily lose control of the temperature (as you have done) - other times it's the fan speeds - or perhaps the auto button refuses to work.
If I wait a bit (hours or days), I eventually regain control (until the next time)...
Just ran across this TSB:
Model and Year: 1986 - 1992 Corvette
Condition: Roof Panel attaching bolts rattle
Cause: Retainer assembly may allow the bolt to rattle
Correction: The new roof attaching bolt retainer P/N 10193699 must be used with the new silencer P/N 10218584 which holds the bolt...
Jeff -
Just wondering - on the VKE 1000 you have installed - when you unlock at night - does that activate the perimiter lighting (as happens when the key is inserted into the lock)?
You mentioned that the horn sounds when unlocking because the system temporarily arms before disarming - why...
