GM's V8 Production Down by Half - Should Next Gen Corvette Adopt a V6 to Keep Up with the Times?

Ignorance? No, if I thought you were ignorant, I would say so. I think quite the opposite. My inarticulate phrasing made you assume that I lumped this (CAC) cast of characters into the larger potential Corvette buyer market. While the 427 moniker may make some of us swoon, it doesn't mean...

GM's V8 Production Down by Half - Should Next Gen Corvette Adopt a V6 to Keep Up with the Times?

Aw geez......OK, maybe one last point in my defense. I am from New Jersey. We of New Jersey believe that those of you landing at Newark Liberty Airport are afforded the absolute height of civility if we don't drag your collectively ugly asses directly on a one way trip to the Pine Barrens ala...

GM's V8 Production Down by Half - Should Next Gen Corvette Adopt a V6 to Keep Up with the Times?

Gee, I think I REALLY ticked off the admins this time around. Oh well, I'll just login another five years from now and cynically decry the new biturbo I4 Vette as unproven technology and an affront to the Corvette heritage. Think I'll go login at the Lotus Forum and tell them what a great car...

GM's V8 Production Down by Half - Should Next Gen Corvette Adopt a V6 to Keep Up with the Times?

Arrogance? Moi? Hardly...once again, I point to the reality of the original premise of this thread. V8 engine production is in decline, as it should be. If you take the time to look at your own arguments, you'll see that the ricer GT-R performance you attribute to four wheel drive, among...

GM's V8 Production Down by Half - Should Next Gen Corvette Adopt a V6 to Keep Up with the Times?

Oh, and I have one more counterpoint to one of your assertions. Something about Ferrari and the other brands not having idiotic debates about greener cars. The facts show actually the opposite is true. The crowd that races if F1 and the other international homologation racing schemes are VERY...

GM's V8 Production Down by Half - Should Next Gen Corvette Adopt a V6 to Keep Up with the Times?

God, it's been years since I posted here and I now I know why. Nothing has changed, especially with regard to facing reality. While the rest of the world goes into direct injection, variable geometry turbo vanes and volutes, this crowd wants to keep the current V8-powered porker...and while...

    Help! Are my tripowers working..

I haven't posted for a while but I'm always interested in tripower postings. I had some problems with the secondaries on my '66 and I looked all the hell over for a vacuum leak. The carbs were new from the outfit that Holley sent me to and all of a sudden, they didn't work correctly. I...

Vintage air or Hot Rod air A/C?

yup, I have Vintage Air and like it. You MAY want to keep the existing AC and convert it over to R134a refrigerant. Since you have to pull out the entire old to put in the new, it's the same amount of work and the car will look better (IMHO) with the factory air. Yes, yes, people will...

    Timing - 40 degrees

OK, time for an anecdote and confession. First the confession. I screwed up even the basics about TDC and installed the distributor off by one tooth. But the full story is that I put a new (old) tripower manifold on my '66 zz440, new carbs, the whole nine yards. Absolutely had #1 at TDC. Put...

Time for a carb and intake

Yup. no problem. I just noticed that you'e in Delaware. We're going to look at real estate in Delaware with an eye to moving out of...well, I'll just be kind and call it New Jersey. You're not too far from me anyways so let me know if you need some help with the car. I can always send my...

    Dim cluster lights

Yup, the bulbs blacken over time. Also hit the guts of the rheostat with electrical contact cleaner and make sure that the gauge cluster has adequate grounding. I actually added cluster grounds in my cars JUST to be sure. To pull the knob out of the rheostat, first locate the spring-loaded...

Time for a carb and intake

Boy, does this bring back memories. Note that I went to a Bill Bradley-spec'd 355. Among the many reasons that I did so was that no matter what I did, I had oil leaks all over the place with the rebuilt 327. The first hint of an oil leak was when the car started to run rough and when I pulled...

Help! Can't Find A Cam-Corder Windshield Mount Anywhere...

Time for a carb and intake

any advice that includes the use of a SMALLER carb is good advice...i don't know how many engines i've ruined by just HAVING to have that 750 sitting on top just had an engine spec'd for me by bill bradley, a 355ci with low compression (going to add back a vortech blower in the near future) and...

How to turn off the heat !

I like your fix because it's even cheaper than mine. I did the same thing but used a shut off valve that I got from NAPA. It's a screw-in valve. Of course, make sure that you put the valve in-line before the water goes into the heater core.

    C2 - Stuck in Reverse

...these guys know what they're talking about but iw ould add that, IMHO, i wouldn't take the car back to the same shop that screwed up the shifter in the first place... ...i know that everyone makes mistakes but I get real pissed at mistakes that are made with the meter running and i'm the...

Corvette Racing Will Continue - Chevrolet's Ed Peper

You know, even though Obama said that the government will not make day-to-day decisions for Government Motors, I think that's hogwash. I wouldn't count on a mid-level VP knowing what is going to happen tomorrow at GM, let alone for a year. Heck, Fritz doesn't know that. It will be decided by...

    A Letter From Chevy

Talk about perspective, I view the new ZR-1 (ZR1?) the LOW point of Government Motors. Sure, I love the Vette but think about the genesis of this car. It was a personal toy of an incompetent CEO (remember the "Blue Devil" label early-on?). The car itself is an anachronism in a power race...

    Guess who's buying Hummer ?

Apparantly, even the PRC Government doesn't want Hummer. The conventional wisdom is that Central Control believes Hummer does not fit the image of what is envisioned for China. Maybe if they do a hybrid right away, they'll get away with it and shove that in our faces. Great, just great. Last...
