    How to buy

Which part of the C3 generation I got bitten by the vette bug 2 years ago when I bought my '93 coupe. Any advice on buying an older vette? I read some of the posts here about buying a C3. C3 covers a lot of years. Are the opinions regarding 69 vs 79 just cosmetic or do you think later c3's...

    Whining noise

I am hearing a high pitched intermittent whine occasionally during acceleration. It doesn't last and comes and goes. My first thought is a belt, but last year I had all new belts and a new belt tensioner installed. Also it doesn't sound like the typical squeal of a slipping belt. It sounds...

    Paint Job

How much would a paint job be for a '64 roadster. Any experiences would be appreciated

To C2 or not to C2

It will have needs that are very different from the 93, and normally will not be a daily driver. You might also want to consider your wrenching skills, since any decent , professional garage mechanic can take care of your needs with the 93, but that would not necessarily be the case with the 64...

    C4 or C2

I bought my first Vette 2 years ago. It is a 1993 torch red coupe. I have an opportunity to buy a 1964 roadster from a friend. It is in very good shape. It needs a new gas gauge and the paint job is less than perfect(it was repainted metallic blue). The price: $22,000 The question; I have to...

water pump failed. need to replace distributor too?

I just had mine done. Distributor assembly went taking with it the rotor and opti. In addition to replacing the belt and belt tensioner I was in for 1400.00+, but labor was only 225 on the whole job so you are right that na experienced mechanic will have no problem. The Opti for me was 450.94 .

    Sudden problem

It was the distributor assembly and rotor which in turn damaged the optispark. So throwing in a new serpentine belt and tensioner with labor.............1400.00 OUCH. That opti is a pricey part. But my buddy is running like a watch again. Thanks for all the answers

    Sudden problem

Thanks for the replies. Actually I had an old camaro that had a loose element in the cat which clogged up the exhaust and messed up the back pressure causing the same symptoms. I know I'll just have to let my Mech have at it, but I like to be educated when I talk to them.

Fuel Problem Or What....My getty up won't go!

I had an old camaro when I was a kid and the element in the cat came loose and basically clogged the exhaust leading to bachfires loss of power rough running and stalls

    Sudden problem

I figured fuel pump problem would have given me a harder start. It starts and would even run (really rough) if you rev the engine. I didn't take much time to mess around because I wanted to bring it in instead of trying to diagnose on th side of the road. What is the opti spark all about?

    Sudden problem

Help, My well kept, running like a watch, 1993 coupe suddenly backfired and lurched while I was driving locally at about 35 MPH. It then stopped. I tried to start it it cranks, but when it started it sputtered and backfired and immediately shut down. It is at my mechanic now, but hewon't get to...

    Interior Lights

My interior lights on my '93 coupe stay on for 10-15 minutes after closing the door. Turning on the ignition doesn't help. They stay on for about 15 minutes while driving. That includes the door lights and the cargo area light. I pulled the fuse on the interior lights and pulled the bulbs in the...

    no start then start

In my case it was related to the built in security system which shuts off the fuel and electronic starting system if you use anything other than the ignition key to start the car. The black "chip" on the ignition key needs to be properly seated to start the car. Make sure you have a good quality...

    no start then start

Have a 93 LT-1 coupe which I just bought last week. I am new to vettes. Today I moved the car about 200 feet to a spot in front of my office. Came back out 5 minutes later to show it to a friend and it wouldn't start. No crank no click nothing. Lights and radio worked and charge was normal. I...
