I'm a little unclear. Are you looking to put NON-Corvette style seats in there? Are you looking to just stay away for C3 Corvette seats? Or are you just looking to stay away from the aftermarket Vette seat vendors (MAM, Al Knoch, etc).

If you like the Vette, and there are no structural issues, then you got a good value. Basically, the value of it is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. So if you thought it was worth $3k, then you got what you wanted. IMO, $3000 for a running, decent looking vette is not a bad deal...

You can get very limited info from this Automatic VIN Decoder. However, it is no more info than you can find in the Corvette Black Book. It just makes it easy to decode.

Sounds to me like you have a broken or bare wire there. It is probably up higher than you are able to see. You'd probably have to pull the dash apart, or see if it runs through the firewall. I'm guessing not, though. Hopefully someone here has had to replace that wire and can give you more...
