    LT4 Wanted:Stock LT4 cam

I have one, but one of the lobes has a rough spot on it from a burred lifter. It was working fine when I took it out of the car at 80K.

What's not to like about the hotcam?

You lose some low rpm drivability and your gas mileage takes a hit. It has a bit of cam surge at low rpm. But it sounds great and makes 25 more rwhp on the dyno...what's not to love.:rotfl

    LT4 The C5 LS1 outran the C4 LT4 in every way ...

When I bought my '96 LT4, it had a set of 4.10 gears and a Magnaflow catback. Other than that it was stock. On drag radials in 80 degree air, it ran a 12.60 at 112mph. I then added a Meziere electric water pump and had it tuned. It then ran a 12.19 @ 114mph. I added long tube headers and it ran...

    LT4 Best LT4 Mods

Take it to Jeff Creech at Carolina Auto Masters in Durham, NC for a dyno tune. He tuned mine and it runs like a scalded dog.:D Also, an electric water pump is a great mod on LT4's. My et dropped 2 tenths in the 1/4 after adding one. 4.10's are probably the best single mod on a LT4.

    LT4 12.19 - New best with the LT4

Shallow stage. Pull up just far enough to turn on the 2nd staging light. That will give you about a little bit of start before you trip the timing lights. Probably more like 6 to 8 inches, but it makes a difference.

    LT4 12.19 - New best with the LT4

Here's a link to a race video from a few months ago before I installed the Meziere. This is against my buddy on his '05 GTO 6 speed. Both cars are running drag radials. I think I probably ran a 12.6 on this pass...don't remember...

    LT4 12.19 - New best with the LT4

Drag radials...especially since you have spare rims. It makes all the difference in the world. I can drop the clutch at 3,000 rpm and it won't spin. Just plants and goes. I'm running Nitto NT555r's. Good luck!

    LT4 12.19 - New best with the LT4

Yes. Stock clutch and I'm pretty sure it's the original with 80,000 miles on it. It's pretty sloppy and I can't power shift the car. If I don't lift between shifts the clutch won't hold. I suspect I could lose another tenth with a new clutch.

    LT4 12.19 - New best with the LT4

I posted this in the C5 tech LS1/LT4 thread for kicks as well. New best with the LT4 last weekend at Fayetteville Motorsports Park. I only got one pass in, but it was a good one. The car has 4.10's, a Magnaflow catback, Meziere electric water pump, K&N & open lid, descreened MAF, Nitto drag...

C5 seems sluggish compared to my LT4

Hey guys. New best with the LT4 last weekend at Fayetteville Motorsports Park. I only got one pass in, but it was a good one. Since my last post, I've added a Meziere water pump, but no other changes, except the cool fall air. I will post the timeslip, but can't at the moment. 60foot 1.76...

What kind of times are you running with that LT4?

C5 seems sluggish compared to my LT4

Hey...I had a '90 Coupe as well before my '96. Good minds think alike. What brand of headers are you running and do you like them? Also, if you ever make it to NC, there is a great GM only dyno tuner in Durham, Carolina Auto Masters. I'm sure bringing your A/F back up to 13 to 1 would make...

C5 seems sluggish compared to my LT4

Thanks. 13.2 @ 107 is not too shabby. My car dyno'd 305rwhp and 306rwtq. I think the big thing helping my e.t.'s is the gear. Best mod for the buck on an LT4. I just installed a Meziere electric water pump yesterday and I'm headed back to the track this weekend. The car feels stronger now...

C5 seems sluggish compared to my LT4

For what it's worth, my '96 LT4 with 80,000 miles is strong. The motor is stock with 4.10 gears and a catback exhaust. It's been dyno tuned and runs mid 12's in the quarter at 111 to 112 on drag radials. Here's a timeslip. It was 84 degrees when I made this pass and I bumped the rev limiter in...
