1988 #98 Corvette Cahllenge Car
I recently purchased the first of two 1988 #98 cars. This car was raced the first three races of the 1988 Series by Stu Hayner. The car was sold and replaced by the #55 car (re-numbered as #98). Stu Hayner went on to win the 1988 Challenge Car series after...

I'm going to make molds off both narrow and ZR1 versions just for myself and future projects. I won't be able to sell any Callaway panels though, due to Callaway's trademark. I don't need any lawyer bills. LOL
I found a narrow body AeroBody kit and will widen it for my ZR-1. I'll make new molds just in case I ever have a mis-hap.
The fun is all in the thrill of the chase for parts!!!
Yes, I believe that the mold, (which I made), had too low of a roofline. The arch of the roofline was accurate. The A pillar height was not high enough though, which caused the overall roofline height to be lower than the original. I am making a new mold with a more accurate height that will...
Change fo plans. The car won't be going to the frame shop until later. I decided to build my 90 for a daily driver for now. I found a Callaway AeroBody kit and will straighten the 92 at a later date. My estimate for frame straightening and floor repair was only $1200. I'll just paint it and wait...
This will be a fun car to build, finally. I was able to acquire additional photos from GM's archives last month. It was worth the invitation to take a look. Follow along and watch the car unfold accurately.
I'm starting this thread with the purpose of showing the rebuilding and re-birth of 1992 #474. This car was wrecked at the drag strip when the right rear tire blew at high speed. The car ended up riding atop the guardrail, bending the frame. The passenger side frame rail was damaged by the...
This is not uncommon for the six volt system. It may only have a two pole starter. The later 54's had a four pole starter. A freshly rebuilt four pole starter will help the situation but doubtful it will cure it 100%. Timing can also help or hurt. Advance or retarded. Also, don't choke the carbs...
If you appreciate the marque and want more than one Corvette, parts can be found and the network of guys is awesome. If you are not able to work on the car yourself, it may not be the car for you. They are pretty bullet proof but it will need minor maintenance from time to time.
Hib hit the...
Hi Gary. I have to agree. Even when Bob and I were making the project molds back in 2008, I was never comfortable with that aspect of the top, regardless of anything. I have two orders for Fastbacks and the headroom height, IMO, has to be adjusted to the correct height for both comfort and...
