Noland has amassed an incredible amount of Corvette information over the last 40 years. As many of you know, Noland had unique access to GM records and photographs. He also had a great number of people sending him information and pictures regarding their cars. From what I can tell, Noland...

I am not a photobucket user, so I cannot tell you exactly what to do differently. But I can give you some basic information that should allow you to post your larger pics.
When you post a picture to a photo site, the site automatically creates a small thumbnail of the picture. When you...
Jim-
Neat story.
I read the complete story in the 1973 Good Times magazine. Fascinating stuff. I am tempted to scan the article and post it here for all to read. But I want to make sure you are okay with that.
I own 53 #276, which was owned by Dave Elie from 1957 to 2007. Original body...
Thanks Brett. I really appreciate your insights on this.
After thinking about your comments, I decided to hunt down the Steve Koss article on early Corvette bodies in the NCRS Restorer (Vol 14, Number 3, 1988). For those who don't recognize the name, Mr. Koss worked in the GM Parts Fab...
Wow - learn something new every day. Thanks.
I wanna make sure I have this right...
Based on your description above, the earliest floors were hand-laid one piece affairs, so that one side would be relatively smooth and the other side would show cloth completely? I assume the bottom of the...
Brett-
Neat pics.
I am intrigued by your one piece floor pan comment above. I know you have come across both jig assembled and one piece floor pans in your 1953 restoration work. And I freely admit that I know very little about the varying body production techniques used during 1953. But I...
Are you referring to my website - earlycovettes.com? Last time I checked all the links were working. Send me a PM if you are having a problem.
If you want to go directly to the 53 - 55 car stuff - click here.

Noland lives pretty close to where I work, so I visit Noland whenever I free up some time. As you might expect, Noland has many incredible stories and some really neat memorabilia. Hanging out with a Corvette Hall of Famer is as good as it gets.
Last time I visited Noland I spotted an old...
Tim-
Has the car been in Florida the entire time? Or did the owners move to Florida at some point to retire like many others? If the owners retired in Florida, do you know the state where the car was stored for what looks to be a very long time?
Thanks,
Russ
I'll bite. I will address a point that most Corvettes guys don't know about - early Corvette trunks.
I own 53 #276 which is a high mileage but unhit and unrestored car. I have also spent a number of hours inspecting 53 #169, which is an unrestored car owned by the same guy since 1959 or so...
Rob-
I will say thank you. Posting pics and adding descriptions takes a good deal of time - I suspect most people don't really appreciate how much time it takes. With the new pics going up of the Florida car, you helped balance the equation by adding pics of the Indiana car.

Your post refers to a single picture. Tim actually posted 25 pics or more of the Indiana car. Did you take a look at all of the pics, or did you only see the first pic that popped up???
Russ
Tim-
For those of us who cannot attend the Florida meet, thanks for adding those pics to your websites. Nice detail. You obviously have a great deal of work to do.

Thanks for all the posts and good wishes.
I have no desire to restore 53 #276. I would probably sell it rather than restore it actually. But I intend to keep it for a long time and just drive the heck out of it.
I am fascinated by the comments I receive when I park it somewhere. 50% of...
Thanks SebringBill. I love the pic of the speedo - very impressive. I don't think I will ever get my 53 over 100mph. And, unfortunately, the speedo on my 57 doesn't work (I just use the tach).

Let's change the tone a bit....I normally don't post much on CAC, but I figured we could use a break from the other threads about 53s.
To celebrate my birthday, I decided to play hooky from work today. I drove 53 #276 (full disclosure - vin # matches frame #, but I can only document car back...
