ASR On/Off and other Tips for High Performance Driving Events etc?

Thanks! It's been a few weeks but as I recall I ran about 38 PSI at all 4 corners. Normally I run about 32-34 for daily driving. This is a daily driver and beyond experimenting with tire pressures I prefer to keep things mostly stock, maintained. That includes brakes/tires. Tires are Kumho...

ASR On/Off and other Tips for High Performance Driving Events etc?

If taking a stock LT1 w/ auto to a high performance driving event at a track (or even an autoX) ... ASR on or off? Tire pressure in the low 40s for track? (lower for autox) (Kumho Ecsta summers) Transmission in D, not OD? Fresh brake fluid? Other tips? thanks

Testing New Heater Core Before Installing

I figure ACDelco is as good as or better than any other options I'm aware of - made in Mexico or not. Anybody have any better recommendations? Or take it in for some additional solder regardless... thanks for the responses

Testing New Heater Core Before Installing

Given the labor to get at a heater core, do you guys test new ones before installing? Just sitting here and thinking about this job... I figure I might plumb up the new core to an air compressor, give it 10 or 15 psi or more and submerge it in a bucket of water, watch for bubbles. Good practice...

Question: Heater Core Replacement on 1982

You might also need new foam rubber seals for the heater / AC box. There's a bunch of different pieces sealing the various compartments, seals, flaps etc. Places like Dr. Rebuild etc. sell kits. Much of my foam was so rotten it was literally gone. Which means I still need to figure out how the...

73 Corvette very dim dash lights, how to make brighter?

Thanks for the followup. I wouldn't take the console apart just to swap bulbs. Incandescents have basically a soft yellowish hue. The green you see is the color of sea foam green color painted around the console's back the light reflects off of. I think they make LEDs in a 'soft' white - they...

Question: Is the Fresh Air Door Seal Kit the Same For Air & NON-Air cars?

Thanks! I might get a sheet of 3/32 closed cell foam rubber instead - not that there's a price difference but the excess might be helpful elsewhere. I have an AIM but did not see that when I looked last week. I often miss things in the AIM - sure wish mine had an index of some sort. :) thanks...

73 Corvette very dim dash lights, how to make brighter?

Just a thought, has anybody considered LED bulbs instead of incandescent?

Question: Original Color or Not.....Original Urethane or Not That's the Q

Personally I too try not to look at mine as in 'investment' whereby I maximize the amount of money I'll get off the next owner. Oh sure, if it's a 'do-not-care' item on mine, I opt for original generally, but if I have a preference for different - so be it. FYI if you'd invested $4k 30+ years...

73 Corvette very dim dash lights, how to make brighter?

The instruments are only lit by indirect reflected. They did not have backlight gauges through translucent gauge faces like later cars nor the LED lighting of modern day cars. So they just aren't going to be that bright. But they should be legibly bright or bright 'enough'. Assuming you do have...

Question: Original Color or Not.....Original Urethane or Not That's the Q

I like the response and have little to add. But as for resale value: Unless we are talking about a rare and desirably optioned early C3 (think big block or LT1) that will be a trailer queen to be sold at auction, I really doubt a change, even a color change makes 'that' much difference in value...

Question: Is the Fresh Air Door Seal Kit the Same For Air & NON-Air cars?

Thanks! I'll double check but I don't see one on the LH side - just the RH side of my AC car. If not I'll have an extra for the next time I'm in there in another 40 years or so! ;)

Rams Horn Manifold, Nice! Ready to Go, $20

It is still avail. It's an "038" as you mentioned - full casting # is listed above. The 038s originally came off '64 and '65 327/250s with AC and/or powerglide. However as far as I know - these are all interchangeable and it should fit on most any 327, 350 etc. on 63-67s C2s or '68+ C3s...

Question: Is the Fresh Air Door Seal Kit the Same For Air & NON-Air cars?

This is the oval shaped closed cell foam that is sandwhiched between the metal doors on the RH passenger side kick panel actuated by a vacuum can. THey are sold in pairs but at a glance I am only seeing one (RH) on a factory air car. Thanks Sample:

    Corvette Wins at Le Mans

Good point about the coverage being pooled. I think Speed knows their audience has an interest in following the GT Corvettes and they do what they can to underscore how Corvette Racing is doing as well as interviewing the folks at P-M etc. I watched several hours off and on thru Saturday and...

Question: 1996 A/C High Pressure Service Port/Valve - How to Service?

Going from memory I think the bottom part does. But the top seems different. I'll have to check. (Maybe a previous owner serviced/modified it) Why do you ask? May not have an issue even though it is leaking. My understanding now is that on R134a systems, the caps are considered the 'primary'...
