I need some spark plugs for my stock 68 327/350. I know that AC 44s are not available so the suggestion is running AC 43s which are a bit cooler. Ive been running a bit rich so it was suggested for the around the town driving I do to go up to a 45s. Some say thats fine others warn against a...
Yes I know the location of all the screws on the carb but with 2 different idle screws how do you adjust them to achieve a consistent 750 rpm when motor is warmed up?
My 68 327 has a referbed quadrajet on it. My mechanic had this thing set to idle at 600 rpm. I want to adjust it to idle at the proper 750 rpm. I understand there are 2 idle speed screws, the base idle screw and the fast idle screw. I'm familiar with Holley carbs but the quadrajet is confusing...
Yes it was running fine up until about 2 months ago. The only issue I had was difficult cold starts. Once problems started the focus was on probable carburetor issues. That was worked on without success by a local shop that deals with older cars. At which point I swapped to another carb but...
I have no idea how to explain the rotor pointing 180@ off. As I stated its about 180@ off between the 5 & 6 plug wires on the dist cap. That is why I have checked and rechecked the # 1 cylinder at least 5 times. When I plug my vacuum /fuel pressure gauge into the spark plug hole and it shows...
I have rechecked this to make sure by inserting a vacuum gauge /fuel pressure gauge plug into the # 1 spark plug hole cranked the engine and it blew out the plug at the same location about 180@ off, rotor pointing between #5 & 6 distributor cap wires. Is re positioning the distributor to TDC...
Thanks for the advice. The motor was rebuilt many years ago and has about 60K on it since. The crank and rotor move in unison. The rotor is pointing about 180 degrees off on the compression stroke of cylinder # 1 so it appears somethings screwed up.
A little history: The car was my brothers...
My car wont start and is backfiring through the carb when cranking. Was running the day before though not well ,hesitating and episodes of bucking /sputtering then running better. I have been chasing this problem for awhile but now its stuck in the garage and wont run. Fuel is being deliver...
Anyone know what AC Delco voltage regulator is the right part # for a 68 corvette 327 with no AC or other power options ? I have seen AC Delco 663 and AC Delco 635. I tried and after market BWD unit but it has a metal lip that came up too high and interfered with the stock plug in part (plug...
I am swapping out my Holley for my 1968 Rochester carb. The holley had a male fuel fitting so I can hook up my rubber fuel line to it. The Q Jet has a threaded female fitting. I am trying to find a threaded male connector that I can screw in to the Q jet fuel inlet so I can attach the rubber...
Thanks for the info on the Q Jet info. That cleared up some areas of concern before I do this swap. Would not having the cover on the idle compensator be a problem?
At this point I plan on keeping the rubber hose set up to allow me to be able to swap back to the Holley after trying out the Q...
I am switching out my Holley spreadbore carb for a Q jet on my 68 327/350 and want to be ready to install it without surprises. Not being familiar with the Q jets attachments I have included an attached photo for questions on the pictured rear of the carb.
1. What does the threaded hole at...
Any opinions on a replacement carb for a 68' 327/350 stock spreadbore manifold? I have a 650 cfm holley double pumper on now. Its worked fine for years but its been giving me some issues. I am considering replacing it with either a new Holly double pumper spreadbore or a rebuilt quadrajet.
My car was in storage for years. it has an aftermarket radio that was put in long ago. It was working though the on off knob would crackle/scratchy when turned on. sounded like the contact was dirty or corroded from sitting so long but it did work once it was on. The other day it didnt work ...
okay , changed out my rear lube with delco brand 80w-90w plus the limited slip fluid 6 oz. worth. thought that might help the rear as it was noisy but it almost seems noisier (no chatters or high pitched noises but like a rubbing sound almost like the sound of tire scrubbing on a tight turn. It...
tried to get diff. square head plug out with 12 point socket no go. six point socket doesn't fit either. No room for an open end wrench. Suggestions on what to use to get this plug out? heard somewhere to use a 5/8" crowsfoot wrench?
