CT / NY mechanics for C2.

Mark, Can not really agree with your statment that Corvettes require specialist to work on them. They are only plastic Chevrolets. Parts are relatively easy to get and most GOOD mechanics should not have any rproblems working on one. We just tend to over state the car just because its old.

    Pretty Muncie

Brian, Thanks for the reply. The tools you used don't appear to be anything us shade tree mechanics wouldn't already have. How about working to tolerances. Any issues??? I'm thinking about doing my transmission over next winter. The synchro need replacing.

    Pretty Muncie

That does look like a nice job! What tools did you use? Can someone with absolutely no transmission experience do the job? It almost appears the hardest part is getting the tranny out of the car and reinstalling.

    Scissors Lift?

Scissor Lift Thoughts Steve, I recently installed a scissor lift myself. Rich LaGasse was very helpful if you haven’t already found out. In my searches I looked for dual pistons, min 36” lift, 120V. Besides checking all the safety stuff, check how and where the hydraulic lines connect to...

    total timing?

Check sequence Did you check the total advance with or without the distributor springs installed. Should be without. If the springs are soft enough and the weights aren't binding you should get full advance with very little extar RPM, 2600-2800 max.

    66 coupe sometimes too hot

Maybe a simple fix You might want to check your engine idle. If it is too low you may not be drafting enough air through the radiator to get enough heat transfer. Sometime if you just rev your engine a little to 1500 you should be able to cool things down very easily. Remember when you were...

67 C2 Convert, what's the right way to CLEAN the interior?

Interior Cleaner bobmanx, Stop fooling around with the crappy stuff. Try the Leatherique. My seats are original. I was ready to replace until I used this stuff. Use it on a hot day. It work great. All that other stuff is doing more damage than good. http://www.leatherique.com/prod03.htm

Interior Clearner I used a product from florida call leatherique. It is a two step process but it work like you can't believe. My original 67 leather seats were ready for replacement. This stuff cleaned them and softened them beautifully. Since then I have used this stuff on my BMW's.
