I've been thinking about this for a while and decided to jump into the Z06 market. I've got about $18,000 or $19,000 to spend. I'd prefer an 02 to avoid the oil consumption issues I've read so much about. Am I correct in assuming that for the money I've got to spend I will be able to find cars in the 50K + mileage range ? If so what issues will I need to check for on cars with this amount of use ?

Thanks.

Hey welcome to CAC, I just turned 22 and i just bought my first corvette a year ago (in a couple days it will be a year) Mines a 2003 Millenium Yellow Z06 50th anny. Mine had 67,000 miles and i paid a lil over 21,000 for it, which i was told was a pretty good deal cause it booked for over 29,000 last year. I havnt been looking in the market too much at pricing but for 18-19k you might have to settle for either one with some big miles 80k+ or a 2001 First year Z06. Thats just what ive seen though, you never know you could find a sweet deal, just keep looking. Just dont settle for one that you really dont want, there beautiful cars.. Good Luck, once you get one you will never Not have one again.. ha ha

Hey Ranger,

Thanks for the reply. I forgot about posting this here, I guess this forum isnt so active. Since I posted here, I've been doing a LOT of looking and I'm actually finding some pretty good deals out there. I have seen some 01's with miles around 40K and asking prices at $20,000-$21,000 and 02's with the same miles for about $2,000 higher. I can scrape up the extra cash to get something in that range. It's a real buyers market right now. I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying yours, I'm looking forward to getting back into a Vette too.

Regards,

B

If you're shopping for a C5 Z and you can afford it, buy an '02 or later for the 405-hp engine. The 01s had 385 hp.

I agree and 02's are primarily what I am looking at although I would be happy to find a Speedway White 01 :cool

She a sweet looking car. Congrats.

Thanks Toms and bwing ! Still having a great time with it ... lately I've been inventing little "errands" that require short drives. My girlfriend laughs at me because every time she needs something from the store I practically run for the door with my keys. :D
