1/4 Results for my 383 Crossfire...

The 700r4 86 can be run without the computer hook up ,the 84 trans has to be electronicaly in sink with the computer. I would run a 3000 stall if it were me .I run a 3200 and it only stalls at 1700 to 2000 foot breaking,If you run a trans break you will get the full stall out of it.
Great times first time out,If the guy running in the other lane is an indication of your competion I would not worry about a thing.

No wonder I'm confused about this stuff. What do you mean "a 3200 and it only stalls at 1700 to 2000 foot breaking"? And, what is a trans break?

If you put your left foot on the brake, then apply throttle, there is some point at which the torque converter will apply enough torque to make the wheels spin in spite of the brake. I believe that he is talking about the engine RPM at which this happens. I do not know how a transmission brake works. It is possible to lock the front wheels without using the brake pedal. This approach is a line lock. It is a modification to the braking system. I suspect that a trans brake is used for similar purposes.

Hey jim,

I was looking at come TQ converters. 700R4 lockup converters are pricey. I found this site 700raptor.com These are a couple converters they offer:

#2. " Super Street Raptor " Fits 700R4 / 200-4R / 4L60E 1993 up non LS1 type motors and C5 Corvettes only. This stall converter is balanced, has furnace brazed fins, all bearing construction and a Sonnax carbon fiber clutch. This converter can be ordered with stall speeds of 2000, 2300, 2600 or 2800 RPM. Can also be ordered with an 1800 RPM stall speed for towing, 4WD and stock motors. We now have this converter in a 1200 RPM stall speed for diesels. No Nitrous, buy #2X if you have Nitrous. Good up to 450 horse power. Cost $275.00

#2X. Same converter as above with a balloon plate, rated up to 550 horse power. This lock-up converter can be ordered with stall speeds of 1200 to 2800 RPM. Can be used with Nitrous. Cost $390.00

6 month warranty.

Anyone heard of em?

A trans break locks reverse and 1 st gear so the car does not move when you are on the line for launch.

Most trans breaks have a .500 sec release so when the lights come down you can cut a better light. No load on the engine until the engine comes up to the stall speed of the converter.

2000 stall ,engine will be at 2000 when the converter locks up, wrong if you use the foot break you might see 800 or 1000 and the car will start moving foward.

3000 stall with trans break that is the RPM's the engine will reach befor you launch.
A line lock is only used for a burn out and it locks the front breaks .

If it were me I would invest in a Vigalante it is warranted for 2 years and 1 free rebuild.(Pression Industries) about $700.00.
I know sounds expensive ,but my buddy just lost his motor using a TCI street fighter ,it shook his motor apart when it went.

Wow. $700 is alot compared to the $275. I am emailing them to see if these are new or rebuilt units.
