This trip to Le Mans, France for the world’s most prestigious 24 hour race in the world this June won't be just another trip. My plan is to take our 1960 Cunningham Corvette #3 back over to Le Mans for its fiftieth anniversary – the vehicle was the first Corvette to ever win its class at Le Mans and held its title for over 40 years! My father dreamed of this effort and I’m going to follow through on his behalf. The original driver, Mr. John Fitch, now 92 years of age is still well and plans on attending the event with us.

This link shares a PDF file of the presentation I conducted last weekend in Bowling Green, KY at the National Corvette Museum that shares information on our effort: 1960 Le Mans Corvette #3 Anniversary Presentation.

This past weekend was a mind blower for me… GM ended up unveiling a 2011 VIN#00001 anniversary #3 Le Mans Corvette (one of one) – this is unheard of as you can imaging. Having GM make a one off car hasn’t happened for quite sometime… Needless to say I was thrilled to see the car last weekend and I wanted to share the enthusiasm with all of you. Check it out by clicking here.

The Corvette Exterior Design Engineer, Kirk Bennion, also handed me a poster this past weekend that really made me smile, see the image below:

I am going to have to agree with you. Being that it is one of one I will guess it is a museum piece from now on. The next set of picture needs to be with both cars side by side somewhere. :thumb

Both No 3 Cars should be at Le mans this year, its a great story to follow up,
all of us travelling from the UK will be looking forward to seeing a piece of history and all concerned.

One of the few benefits of living in England - I can easily get to Le Mans! Will be at St. Saturnin on the Friday prior to the 24h race where the Euro Corvette gang (there's quite a few of us!) will be there to pay tribute to the Fitch/Cunningham C1. Lance Miller has done an incredible job, esp. since it took a helluvan effort to FIND the car in the first place....understand it was red when found.....hats off to you, Lance.
The 2011 '50th' is a belter isn't it!? My '07 is Arctic White......maybe it needs a coupla blue stripes etc......

Jack-

I'm looking forward to meeting you first hand during our visit. The event in St. Saturnin will be a blast, I'm looking forward to showcasing the #3 Le Mans Corvette during the big event. Later that day we'll be police escorted to the staging area for the Grande Parade des Pilotes later that evening.

It'll be an action packed event for us! Life is good...

Lance

Jack, when are you traveling down, and what crossing are you taking ?

The #3 arrives safely to the French port of Le Harve. Tonight the car will be transported down to the famous Le Mans Museum! On Monday the vehicle will be pulled out of the Museum for a photoshoot by Richard Prince along with it's older brothers (the C6.R's) right at the start/finish line of the Le Mans circuit!

Life is good,

Lance
