Thanks for sharing all of the photos

I know what you mean about being shy.Last frida night we went to a local car cruise.I had my 66 and my wife was driving our 67. We were walking around and a fellow was there with a 62 (not a perfect car ) anyways I had introduced my self to the owner and told him I liked the looks of his car and asked if I could sit in it. He then explained the value of the car (60,000.00) and could If I could not afford to replace it I should not ask to sit in it(I felt like telling him the true value of his car but the man was a ignorant, rude, fool) and he then explained it wasnt a good idea. (how embarising) I was mortified

Any ways I again complemented him on his car and we walked away. About 20 minutes latter we were hanging out by our cars and he came up and said I should have explained to him I owned a vette he would have let me sit in it he said he figured I was just a WANABEE. So know I know not to ask people to sit in there cars its just to embarring to be belittled like that

That guy was a real jerk! not typical of a true vette enthusiast but more like a guy with a power trip!
hate running up on folks like that - alas, its usually best to let them hang themselves rather than trying to bring them over to your side of the force. haha

No reason at all for YOU to be embarrassed - he should be the one embarrassed by his actions, especially after he saw you by your cars!
you should have offered to let him sit in yours and watch how red he would have gotten! ;LOL ;LOL

I've never actually had anyone ask to sit in mine although i could see they really wanted to but they were too hesitate to say anything so a few times I've just offered them the opportunity and they really appreciated it.
the best is when i'll let a little kid sit in it for a minute or so. it really makes the kids whole day and even makes the parents really proud. Getting the kids excited about these cars is part of the whole enjoyment i think, getting a new generation to stay enthused about these old cars.

actually reminds me of a story that happened to me about 2 months ago at a show. I was there with my '65 coupe and my friend was parked next to me with his '65 vert. At one point the car next to me pulled out and a decent '71 C3 vert pulled in to park next to me.
During a conversation with me and my wife he says "no offence, your car is nice, but I don't consider anything other than a convertible a true sports car".
WELL, EXCUSE ME!! sorry you had to park next to anything less than a true sports car buddy! at that point my wife and I didn't say anything else and just walked away to look at other cars.
if my car isn't a "true sports car" just because it's a coupe and not a vert, i'm sure there are a lot of Porsche, Ferrari, Lotus, Lamborgini, Viper, etc. owners who are now upset to find out that their cars are not "true sports cars".
I understand that verts are his preference, but don't people think before they open their mouths?

Right on!
yes, thats something I do often. I always get kids involved when it comes to music and vettes.
The couple of shows I've been fortunate enough to attend have had a nice array of children who have a curiousity about Corvettes and I never have a problem answering their questions or letting them sit in my car.
Their faces just light up when you say YES.
Hey, as long as they dont have a soda or ice cream, what is it gonna hurt?

yep, seeing those smiles is great.
and a definate NO to food or drinks in the car!!! Mom or Dad can hold those for the kid while he is in the car.
i think at times the kids are safer than adults in the car. they are just so glad to be in there they just want to grab the wheel and pretend they are driving (including the mandatory vroom, vroom noises LOL). Adults actually want to look and touch and move every control so I'm less worried about the kids in the car than the adults!
LOL

If I hadn't been allowed to sit in a 59 Vette at the Lone Star Classic Car Show at Texas Motor Speedway last year, I probably wouldn't have the 59 and 62 that I have now. My wife and I went to the show to see a friend's 66 and to see what we liked about Vettes for a future investment/purchase. I was admiring this guy's Roman Red/White 59 when my wife came up to me and asked if I thought I could fit in the seat with such a big steering wheel. (Now I'm 6'-1" and weigh in at a svelt 235 lbs., so the question was relevant.) With my typical "I dunno" puzzled look towards my wife, the owner of the car overheard us talking and insisted that I try the driver's seat out!! I refused at first as I was worried that I might damage something. He absolutely insisted I sit, showed me the proper way for a big guy to get in, and then insisted that my wife sit in the passenger's seat to get "the feel". I don't remember his name, but he is directly responsible for my Vette ownership. I hope that I can be as helpful to some other future Vette owner as he was to me.

I'm almost as big as you. i'm 6'2" and about 225 so I know what you mean about being concerned about fitting in these cars! Even after owning my C2, I looked at some friends C1's and wasn't sure I'd get in those until they allowed me to try sitting in them but once you are in it's not as bad as it looks.
the guy you met that let you sit in his car is a perfect example of how Vette people should be and he had a great attitude!
If he was at one show when you met him i'm sure he goes to other shows as well. You should try to find that guy again and really thank him. In fact, the i imagine the biggest thanks you could give him is to show him your car and explain how important he was to your decision and purchase.
I know if that ever happened to me it would make my day - hell, probably make my week!
