Help! 1957 C1 Corvette VIN Identification - Added Character

Hello, I have a 1957 C1 Corvette with a VIN that includes an extra "S" after the leading "E" character (example: ES57S). Anyone have an idea what this would indicate?

That is interesting. Could be just a stamping error. It's something I haven't seen before. Is there anything about the car that is unusual or not normal production that appears to have always been there?
