Stupid question, how many keys were there to the 57 vette? was the ignition switch separate from the door and trunk, I got the car and no keys!!!!!!!!! So I took the door lock out and will bring it to a locksmith, he says that he will be able to make up a key from the code on the side, at least I may find the open trunk might have some more parts that I need like the battery retainer.

not sure on the key but she is a beauty!!!! BTW how did you get that to your drive way with out keys??

LOL

The car needed to be flatbedded from 280 miles away and the driver toof great care to place the car right outside of the garage.

Higbee Motors in West Islip LI took good care of me.

The 57 if correct will have only one key for everything. That being said, a lot of people had the trunk lock changed to secure items in the trunk away from parking attendants. That was back in the day when a lot of parking structures used to keep your keys!

Big D,
Even if the lkey does not open the lock, any beginning locksmith will be able to pick the lock. These locks are only 4 wafer locks and have a very loose tolerance. most juvenile deliquents of 30 years ago could open this type of lock with little more than a paper clip and a small screwdiver! I can open one of these locks in less than 30 seconds and I am not even very good!

I'm the 2nd owner of my 57 and have what sure appears to be an original key (the knockout with the number is still there). One key fits all here!
