1960 steering gear lube?

what would be the best lube and weight for a 1960 steering box?
I have read that using chassis lube is ok for a leaking box. Can anyone verify that? thanks for all your help

I use Valvoline synthetic hi-temp wheel bearing grease; excellent lube, won't leak through the seals.
