Hi, looking for some help i have a 1962 -327 engine casting#3782870 and date C282 front pad F0330RE no vin but were vin should be there is the name F.BOWERS stamped there. Can anyone tell me what this means. thanks.

Boy that is really interesting....Never seen that one before. Obviously the part number on the block is o-k, now if your car number is somewhere around 9------>10k, then I guess that could be a first for me :)

If the last 5 of the vin are way before or after that March production time, I wouldn't know what to say. Also, is it built like a 327/340 with the aluminum intake etc ??? That would be another key...

Wow,
Good Luck

I'm gonna bet, the engine or the block used in that engine was, at some time in the past almost 50 years, had been rebuilt with the block decks being surfaced and the VIN pad then stamped with the customer's name.

Might even have been the rebuilder's name......

Or some guy at the factory working the last day before his retirement. :L

Hi, last 5 vin. #s are 11261 and engine is built like 340 correct intake and all other correct # parts. thanks for info.
