Folks,

Many of you know that I am restoring my 1963 Z06. Well, was putting brakes back on yesterday afternoon and have run into a snag. According to the 1963 shop manual, Page 5-16 " METALLIC BRAKES, SERVICE OPERATIONS", Step 5 CAUTION, I should have an ADJUSTING SCREW SPRING that fits over the adjusting screw.

Anyone ever seen this on a car? Anyone know where I could even begin to look for this spring? I have everything else to put this car back together brake-wise. In fact, didn't even think anything about that spring until we were following the shop manual step-by-step!

Thanks.
Rick

Dunno where you can get one, but it's part number may be 5462023 (from my old parts manual)... maybe that'll help you in your search. Ask your Chevy dealer to check the GM database, perhaps that spring has other applications.

Rick,

Is the part included in Section 39 of the diagram on the following page?

Are you referring to the spring that clips on both halves of the adjustment spreader bar?
No, he's looking for one that actually fits onto the adjustment cylinder (the adjuster slides into it such that the spring is wound around the adjuster).

Wayne,

DOH! thanks, just went to the old parts manual and it could be that part # - really hard to tell - it is definitely in that area of the catalogue though
