Hi
I have a short block 327. I just want to double check if I am correct as per the 1963 Corvette Tech Center that this is a Corvette engine. Please see below.

-Casting number 3782870 (327)
-Date Code F203
(June 20, 1963)

-Engine Stamping -3119407
(1963 VIN 119407)
F0628SD
(Flint, June 28, 327, 300HP,automatic transmission)

-Vehicle VIN should then be
30837S119407 (1963 split window)

Thanks Nick

Welcome to the CAC

Everything looks good to me. Your car has a build date of approximentally July 12 so the casting date and assembly stamp on your block is right on. The SD is for a Corvette 327/300/automatic and your VIN is there. To me it looks like it is the original engine for your car. If anyone was going to fake a block stamping it's very unlikely it would still be a 300 Powerglide. It would probably now be a 327/340/4 speed. It would be worth more than a 300 and be much easier to do than to fake a FI car.

Obviously someone has painted the engine and pad. Be very careful when removing the paint to not scratch the surface underneath as the factory broach marks are just as important as the stampings and almost impossible to replicate.

Broach mark on some 63 engines are very faint so as rusty as the engine is you may not see them. But as mention, take care.
