UPDATE: The seller acknowledged the error...but you have to scroll waayy down to see it!
Nothing else he can do, right?

This car is definately not a tanker.

The interior shot in the back of the car proves it. There should be a raised fiberglass cover in this area with no carpet covering the gas tank. Kinda hard to make that kind of mistake .........

dead giveaway as soon as he listed 340 hp - only way you could order "tanker" was with the L84 fuellie

After N03 was un-bundled from Z06 as a separate option in December, 1962, you could get N03 with any engine, although few were built with carbureted engines in '63.

John,

true, but I don't know of any "documented" tanker that was carburated - least not according to anything I ahve seen, to include Bob Jone's Z06 Registry

N03-only cars (non-Z06) probably wouldn't show up in the Z06 Registry; Noland documented a 250hp Powerglide and a 300hp 4-speed built after the December '62 "un-bundling" of N03 from Z06.

John Z A friend tells me you were a Rhino B driver. I knew there was something I liked about you!! Did the J myself (72) and no matter how bad it got - she brought me home.

Also my friend lied to ya. Topgun motto isn't "Speed is Life". It's really "If ya ain't cheatin' - ya ain't tryin' "

Folks who like sidepipes should hear a pair of J-79's at full burner (and watch the fuel flowmeters) :D

Looks like a nice car but something has to be wrong with it if the seller is willing to let it go for 28K (reserve is met) with new paint and a rebuilt engine. I wonder what the back compartment looks like??? I bet it is ripped up or cut out from someone attempting to install that large tank. Could probably sell that tank for some good $$$$ though. Why would someone install a new motor and leave out the easy stuff like plug wires and hoses. Why wouldn't the seller just install that stuff so the engine runs? Something is fishy here.

My wife says i can buy it if I'm willing to sleep in it! :L

It's a made-up fake car (surprise!); the VIN is well beyond the last of the six group #1 Z06 cars, and 400 cars too early to be in the second group, which eliminates it as a Z06 (which is the only way you could get a big tank until two months after this car was built). The big tank wasn't available as a separate option until two months after this one came down the line. Fakey-doo :eyerole

sent an email to the seller and asked him about the "dual line" master cylinder and he went HUH? So, I said send me a picture of the MC - well, it is a SINGLE LINE with thumb screw top - have picture I can send

I just picked up a copy Noland's 63-67 restoration book. I can't believe I waited this long to buy it. What a great resource. Interestingly, it has a picture of a 63 pilot coupe with 62 hubcaps. It made me think of this car and revisit this thread. When I first saw the 62 caps, I kinda chuckled. Also of interest was that the seller was describing this car as a possible test mule in Hemmings.

It's a test mule all right. He's testing to see how many fools are out there. :L
