I am finishing up my 65 and would like to have a 65-66 master cylinder. I have seen them on ebay for big bucks. What should i expect to pay?

Power brakes master cylinder

I am looking for a power brake master cylinder please.

I've seen '65-'66 power brake master cylinder cores go for $1200-$1500 in the last few months. I understand a GM-licensed reproduction is in the works, but I don't know when it will be available. You might check with CSSB (Corvette Stainless Steel Brakes), www.cssbinc.com - I think they're the outfit doing it.

I spoke to CSSB today about this and was told GM licensing Dept is holding this up. CSSB expects to have them in December or January.

There was a fellow at Corvettes of Carlilse this year with one on his table with a booster. I asked him how much and he said $2000.00 and like a jerk I said wow thats alot. He then started to defend his price and I felt like such a jerk as I wasnt saying it was too much I was just thinking how much it was.

Me personally hate when I am selling something at a swap meet and get comments on the prices from folks who have no intrest in purchasing something. Some how I became that guy at his table. I went back to apologuise but a differant guy was at his table

I found my on E-Bay I put in the part number as a favorite search and found one took about a year to find it but I got mine dirt cheap. sent it to white post for the restoration for around 125.00 or so and booster dewey got me the correct booster

Best of luck in your search

Just a couple of questions -

Did you replace the brake lines? 1965 pb cars had 3/16 lines, but I believe most of the `66 cars were 1/4"

If you're not having the car judged, you'll be money ahead getting a `67 mc vs the 65/66 and adapting to the 3/16 lines.

I was lucky :beer that my car was a factory pb car w/the original mc and booster. Rebuilt the mc myself / put in new brake lines, hoses & calipers.

Got one

I have just removed an original 1965 power brake master cylinder from one of the project cars I have in the shop. It was the original unit that had never been removed from the car. It was still working, and the condition although needing a rebuild, was excellent, with no damage to the threads.

I will be putting it up for sale on E-bag in the new year along with a lot of other stuff, however anyone interested in the M/C can e-me for pictures or pricing.
