Converted my Battery Guage to 9-17 volts
I mentioned (in a post) last summer that I would convert the Battery guage in my 66 cluster from reading the voltage difference between the horn relay and the starter - to regular voltmeter.
I was asked to post pictures of the procedure, so I did - at the Details page linked of my homepage (listed below).
I originally intended to convert my old Battery guage innards to be a regular voltmeter, but the winding was fried worse than I had guessed. I bought a cheap two inch 12 volt guage from JCWhitney, and rode with it mounted below the dash last year, as a test. I liked it. It saved me getting out my digital voltmeter every time the ACDelco battery guage was telling me a story. It's innards now displace the original GM/Delco battery guage innards.
