I want a new '67 4-speed console with the cut-out for power windows.

New consoles are hard enough to find, but with the power window cut-out?

Source? Thanks.

All consoles are P/W, just cut the hole, all have bosses for switch for screws

Wouldn't the cutout have been made prior to chrome plating on a power window console? And wouldn't the raw edge of the cut show it wasn't plated after the cut was made? Just asking, I don't have one to look at. :)

Bob,
try Long Island corvette. I see they have part # 03BPW in section 15 of their catalog.
Under the price they have listed "soon" but i've had the catalog about 4 months now so they have have a price and availablity by now.

Thanks Barry. I called them this afternoon.

When I asked them to guesstimate the availability date, the answer was, "Not the slightest idea."
:confused

I called one of our sponsors..... www.CorvetteAmerica.com TADA! Success.

They tell me that they'll have one for me in three weeks from the ONLY manufacturing source out there. And the price is good - $US579.00

By the time I get my hands on it, it'll be over $CA900.00 what with delivery, brokerage fees, taxes and currency conversion. :(

I'd want to look at one first - the supplier made a first run about 8 months ago and sent samples to the major vendors, and they weren't happy with it at all. The tooling has supposedly been improved in the meantime, but I haven't seen any of the latest parts yet. If the parts are good, the supplier has a bonanza on his hands.

Bob

what about refinishing your current console?
if you have to wait 3 weeks and spend almost $600US, can't you get yours refinshed for about the same or less money and maybe even in a shorter time frame?

Can't get it re-chromed by anyone I know of. And, mother nature had her way with negative interaction between the steel trim screws and the pot metal tuning fork. ;)

well than, I guess that option is out the window...
:L

Console is painted in that area and you would clean the edge after cutting.

cfalson,

Thanks for the ideas, but no one, I repeat, no one that I've contacted has these in stock. Everyone wants you to place an order and wait. I may as well place an order for the correct p/w cut-out model, already painted, including ashtray door, and it's cheaper.
:)

Wait for Carlisle, I'll bet you will find one there, if you can't make Carlisle, be patient search the boards and E-bay you will find one. In addition, with a little work you can save ~1/2 the price of a new one.

I get the feeling that Bob is getting a bit tired of waiting on stuff for his car. He is close enough to start seeing that light at the end of the tunnel and having to wait for part searches and vendors to ship makes things worst!

Hang in there Bob! I'm sure there are other parts of the interior you can work on until the console comes in so you aren't too held up.

To tell you the truth, Barry, I'm about ready to walk away for a couple of weeks. I'm so ****ed over poorly manufactured non-fitting, wrong-shaped, incorrectly-finished parts; poor craftsmanship on things like the bumper re-chroming; myriad of special circumstances that require re-manufacturing of parts that should have been designed differently; three-to-four weeks to get "anything" across that damn border; etc., etc.; that I feel the need to give myself a time out.

I've been to the family cottage exactly once this summer, instead spending all my free time (what there is of it) trying to get this car completed for Carlisle. Well, it ain't gonna happen.

Bob, you knew at least a month or two ago the car wasn't going to be ready for Carlisle (I remember you mentioning that sometime in a prior post).
Based on that , maybe the best thing would be to do just what you say - walk away for a few weeks - even just a week would help!
Order in any parts you know you will need to get in, than just leave things for a while. The parts can come in and sit but take some time to go to the cottage before the summer is over and clear your mind.
We all know you have been working every spare minute on the car and it's no surprise if you are starting to get burned out and frustrated from all the little problems. i'm sure each little thing isn't so bad by itself but when it's one after another it wears on you. I've never done a car like you are but I've done other projects and I know the feeling well.
The car is WAY too awesome so far to let it get to you now as that can cause mistakes or shortcuts from sheer frustration.
Take some time - a week, or two, or even three if you need and clear your mind and you will come back refreshed and more able to deal with all the other upcoming frustrations that you know you still have to contend with.

Now, having said all that - that was my concerned advice to you.
On the other hand......all of us here on the forum can't wait to see that monster finished (I know i'll hear that motor when you rev it up on the initial start-up all the way down here in Delaware) so stop whining like a little girl with skinned knees and get your ass moving on that project! We want to see that car at Carlisle come hell or high water!
;LOL
Sorry, just couldn't resist putting in that last paragraph! :D

Onward to Victory

67, just wanted to send you some encouragement :) :) :)

Think of yourself as a WWII Lancaster pilot on a bombing run to Germany. There is a lot at stake. Your mission is clear. At the start when you left England the flight was fairly smooth, but now you are over Germany and it’s getting a bit rough as the anti-aircraft rounds blast up at you. You are now over Berlin and your target is in sight. This is when the flack is the roughest, because you are almost there! The flack is always the heaviest when you are about to reach your goal.

Your mission is near completion… stay the course, don’t get distracted by the flack. Your crew and ground crew (CAC) are with you 100%. As a matter of fact, the entire allied forces (all those who love classic cars) are behind you! The cause is worthy... and you’re the man :BOW

Onward to victory :upthumbs
