This kit will repair the stripped threads for the screws that retain the wiper door grill, also known as hood grill or wiper door grill on any 68-72 Corvette. This is a common problem with 68-72 Vettes, and there is no repair kit available other than this one. This is a new product and is not yet available from the Corvette parts vendors. Until now the only "repair" was to drill and tap to the next larger size screw, or use a Helicoil repair kit. In most cases, the new screws were too large, and scraped the paint off the grill when they were screwed in.
This kit uses a brass insert and stainless screws that have been plated black phosphate. They are the same fillister head as the factory screws, but stainless steel.
