Can some one tell me if the tranny can be pulled out of my 68 convertible without pulling the engine? Can't see no way to drop the drive shaft. Any help appreciated!

its been over 25 years since i done it on my old 68, but im sure i had to remove the pinion support/snubber bracket from the bottom to access the u joint straps.

Unbolt the U-bolts at the pinion flange end, then unbolt the U-bolts on the yoke at the tranny end, push the yoke all the way into the tranny, swing the front end of the prop shaft clear of the yoke, and pull the prop shaft out from the front.

Use a LONG 3/8 extension on your ratchet with a 7/16 socket and a swivel on the end and you can get to the rear strap bolts.....its a challenge but a "fun" one...haha.......then as said above...push the yoke into the trans all the way...the rear shaft should drop out of the pinion then take the bolts out of the front straps and take the sahft out and presto.......then yank the trans

68 tranny thanks

Want to say thanks a bunch to: On 6th, Waterboy, and John Z for the help on my question about pulling my tranny in my 68. Tranny has been pulled and is on it's way to a total refresh. Here's to you guys!!:beer Bagger
