Hello everyone. I wanted some help with my vette so here I am. I wanted to swap my c3 rear end for a c4 one. I have a 72 convertible and am going through it at my own pace. But I wanted to know if anyone has any info that could help me figure this one out. Thanks for the info and I look forward to some feedback.

Welcome to Corvette Action Center

Welcome aboard, we're glad you've joined us :happyanim: As far as swapping a C-4 to a 1972 would be quite different I would think but someone else with maybe first hand knowledge should see this and help with a lot more expertise than me, which is none in this category. I looked for years for a 1972 LT-1; is that what yours is? I gave up looking finally all I found out there was either cherry condition and too much bucks or too far gone for me to restore, now I'm getting on in years and thinking I don't want to put all this money and sweat for anyone else to enjoy, and not sure I have it in me anymore, I think the passion is gone and the time has passed ;shrug One of the staff people may want to move your post where it will get more attention for your question and new member section too so everyone else can welcome you to the group. Guarantee you will not find a better Corvette site on this planet anyway :CAC By the way what color is your 72, got any pictures of it: you had it long? Might just be my favorite year, last of the series, chrome was still in then, front and rear :thumb

Welcome to the :CAC
Sorry I can't help with the swap.

Swapping in a C4 diff would require considerable frame modifications to accommodate the 'bat wings'. This can and has been done, but I'm not sure what is gained.

If memory serves (and occasionally it still does), the 1981 & 82 diff was substantially like the C4 diff... ie: alum batwing. Anyone know if the mounting points were substantially different than the 1972? If so, that might be the easier swap.

Any idea, Mikey?
