My trim tag states "425 14L" I am assuming the 14 is the paint color, what does the rest stand for? Any help appreciated.

425 is the code for dark red vinyl interior; they called it Oxblood in the literature. 14 indicates the lower portion of the car (the L) was to be painted Silver Mist (14). Since there were no two toned '74s, the L isn't actually needed.

Code in the upper right corner of the trim tag is your time/build date and is the day the tag was attached to the car on the assembly line. The car may not have been completed on that day, but it's as close as you can get to a birthday for your Corvette.

I had a '74 coupe I dearly loved. She had the Oxblood interior.

Welcome to Split Tail ownership.

Thanks Mike, dark red it is. I just purchased it a few weeks back and have ordered the manuals etc. I have about 300 miles on her and everything seems work but the door springs - so that is this weekends project.

Happy cruzin
