Hey guys, I have a 1975 L82 with the TH-400 3 speed Auto ... I am really considering buying the zz4 from GM, and putting this old L82 away for safe keeping (valves are starting to tap, and rings are old, leaks oil). I am not a fan of the gearing in this car though, driving interstate speed (~80) it seems like the rpms are a little high (almost 4K) ... anyone have any ideas as to changing the gearing, ie. what to change it to and how for the zz4 set-up? Any help on this will be great.

Thanks all;
Kevin

L-82 and TH400, probably 355 gears. If you want performance and cruise then consider an OD tranny leave the 355's in. It will cost more then a gear change. You could go to 308 or 273's for cruising but performance will suffer.
