I am going to be removing the dash of my 1980 corvette for a cleaning and a paint job. I have got the center console and the speedo cover off and I will be removing the glove compartment. Other than the screws at the side what else holds it in place? Is there anything else that I should be aware or cautioned about?

Also, the header molding is cracked in the middle what is the best solution to fix it other than replace it? i have tried crazy glue but its not holding? Epoxy? Fiberglass strip on the back?

Thanks
Cel

Cel,
did you get the speakers in?
I replaced my dash last year, I would advise you to get the shop manual it is very helpful, ebay has some and cheap too.
when you get the dash off you might as well replace the top speakers too, mine were falling apart.
there are numerous screws that attach to brackets. Just take your time, it's kinda easy.
If you are already into it, then shoot me your snail mail and I'll copy some pages for you, and send them out.

No unfortunatly I did not. I speakers are very deep there is no way they will fit with proper covers and frame. I am going to put in the carpet and see if I can mount them alittle better than I did before. Then I will paint the grill the color of the interior.

I will be changing the 4 x 6's in the front.

I have taken some of the dash apart already, before I take the whole dash out I am going to work on the rear carpet.

I got the Haynes manual and I ordered the assumbly manual.
